New Delhi: Semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials plans to invest USD 5 billion in India over 10 years to accelerate and integrate the country’s green energy ecosystem into the global value chain, a senior company official said on Thursday.
While speaking at SEMICON India 2026, Applied Materials President for Semiconductor Product Group Prabhu Raja said the company was among the first to establish a semiconductor engineering capability centre.
India has the talent base to lead this model if we continue to inspire it, develop it, and connect it to advanced technology, labs, and training, he said.
“Today, we are announcing India Vision 2035. We have USD 5 billion investment for the next decade to accelerate and integrate India’s green energy ecosystem into the global value chain,” he said Raja said that the programme will have three pillars — equal our R&D in India, accelerate the ecosystem in India and grow future talent in India.
“In 2024, we ordered India’s first 300-millimetre lab. Today, we are committing to a new 140-acre advanced semiconductor research park, bringing together clean room capabilities, engineering expertise, and collaborative R&D with customers and suppliers on one site,” Raja said.
He said that by 2035, Applied Materials aims to grow its India-based supply chain capacity ten times, creating opportunities for Indian suppliers and bringing global suppliers to India.
