Ashok Leyland August Sales Up 5% Including Exports as Bus Volumes Surge 36% YoY

Chennai, September 1, 2025: Ashok Leyland (NSE: ASHOKLEY; BSE: 500477) reported its sales for the month of August 2025. The company sold a total of 15,239 vehicles, which also included exports. This marks a 5% increase in the total number of vehicles sold on a year-on-year basis, which is led by M&HCV buses with a total of 2,643 units, marking a 36% jump.
Domestic Sales Rise 2% in August 2025 with M&HCV Buses Soaring 11% to 1,565 Units
As per the filing, domestic sales of the company totaled 13,622 units sold, which marked an impressive 2% increase on a YoY basis. Within this, the M&HCV trucks stood at 6,426 units, up 1%, while M&HCV buses grew strongly at 11% to 1,565 units, taking total M&HCV sales to 7,991 units, a 3% increase. Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) added 5,631 units, registering 1% growth.
When including exports, overall sales rose to 15,239 units, an 8% jump in M&HCV volumes and a 5% increase in total vehicles compared to last year. This was driven by robust demand for M&HCV buses, which surged 36% year-on-year to 2,643 units, while LCV sales remained steady at 5,858 units. The performance highlights resilience in domestic demand and an encouraging boost from exports, especially in the bus segment.
FY26 Cumulative Deliveries Reach 74,541 Vehicles, M&HCV Bus Segment Leads with 22% Growth
As of the start of the fiscal year, the company has already delivered 74,541 vehicles, including exports, representing a 3% year-over-year growth. The increase was mainly led by the M&HCV bus segment, which surged 22% to 13,194 units, offsetting a marginal 1% dip in M&HCV truck sales. This lifted total M&HCV volumes to 46,981 units, up 4% YoY.
