Mumbai, July 17: CNG prices continued to be unchanged Friday across all cities in India. The tally of cities where gas prices remain unchanged from where they closed Thursday’s trading session rose to all 15 cities we track. State run city gas distribution companies Indraprastha Gas, Mahanagar Gas, GAIL Gas and Torrent Gas have now put up the national CNG price matrix on their respective websites so prices have remained unchanged now for seven trading sessions.
Hyderabad retains the title of most expensive city to buy CNG in at Rs 103.00 per kg and prices in the city went unchanged for seventh consecutive session. Prices in Firozabad (UP) at Rs 98.00 per kg and Bharatpur at Rs 97.50 per kg remained unchanged for seventh session as well. New Delhi once again retains the title of cheapest city to buy CNG in at Rs 83.09 per kg which now comes in just under Rs 3 cheaper than prices in Mumbai where they remain at Rs 86.00 per kg.
Other NCR cities that remained unchanged were Noida and Ghaziabad at Rs 91.70 per kg, Gurugram at Rs 88.12 per kg, Rewari at Rs 87.70 per kg and Meerut at Rs 91.50 per kg. Sonipat remains the NCR city with the highest price of CNG at Rs 94.00 per kg.
Chennai saw prices continue to remain flat at Rs 97.00 per kg while Bangalore, Mathura and Dewas too remained unchanged from where they last reported. The gap between cheapest city Delhi and most expensive city Hyderabad continue to hover around Rs 19.91 per kg. Biggest spread within a cluster continues to be in NCR at Rs 10.91 where prices range from Rs 83.09 per kg in Delhi to Rs 94.00 per kg in Sonipat.
Petrol and diesel also continued to be unchanged across most of India’s metro cities with New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata reporting little to no price movement. Chennai and Hyderabad however saw large increases while Patna, Lucknow and Noida recorded price cuts. Delhi continued to see flat fuel prices of Rs 102.12 per litre for petrol and Rs 95.20 per litre for diesel. Hyderabad continues to have the highest fuel prices out of all major cities that we track. Prices continue to hold for now even as crude oil marched higher Friday and looks to end the week with its biggest gain in months. Brent crude was up 0.9% to nearly $85 a barrel while WTI added 1% to $79.8 a barrel amid escalating U. S.-Iran tensions. Both were on track for weekly rallies of nearly 12%. Investors fear the flare-up between Iran and the U.S. could spread beyond the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea.
City gas distributors have given no indication of a near term revision with input costs of domestic natural gas continuing to trade flat for majority of the week. Once again, these prices are merely indicative and compiled from the publicly available data from CGD company websites. These prices may not take into account the local taxes and so the prices you see at pumps may be a few rupees higher. As always, best to verify locally before filling up.
