Mumbai, July 8: CNG rates held steady in 13 of the 15 cities on Wednesday, with only Bharatpur and Dewas seeing small upward revisions. According to websites of Indraprastha Gas, Mahanagar Gas, GAIL Gas and Torrent Gas, Bharatpur’s price rose 50 paise to Rs 97.50 per kg from Rs 97 on Tuesday, while Dewas moved up Re 1 to Rs 97 per kg from Rs 96, ending its run as the cheapest city for CNG in central India.
Hyderabad remains India’s costliest city for CNG at Rs 103 per kg, unchanged since Monday’s hike, followed by Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad at Rs 98 per kg.
New Delhi continues to be the cheapest city to buy CNG at Rs 83.09 per kg, holding steady for yet another session. Rates in Delhi remain nearly Rs 3 cheaper than Mumbai’s Rs 86.00 per kg, and around Rs 8.60 per kg cheaper than what Indraprastha Gas Limited charges customers in the NCR satellite cities of Noida and Ghaziabad, both unchanged at Rs 91.70 per kg.
Gurugram held at Rs 88.12 per kg and Rewari at Rs 87.70 per kg, while Meerut continued to charge Rs 91.50 per kg. Sonipat remained the priciest city within NCR at Rs 94.00 per kg, unchanged from the previous session.
Chennai, Bangalore and Mathura held steady at Rs 97 per kg each. Dewas has now joined this cluster at the same Rs 97.00 per kg after Wednesday’s hike, while Bharatpur, which had also traded at Rs 97.00 through Tuesday, moved a notch higher to Rs 97.50 per kg, making it the priciest city in the central-India cluster for the day.
The spread between the cheapest and costliest city to buy CNG stays at Rs 19.91, with New Delhi at the cheaper end and Hyderabad at the expensive end, unchanged from Tuesday since neither city revised rates. The widest spread within a single cluster continues to be in NCR, at Rs 10.91, ranging from Rs 83.09 per kg in Delhi to Rs 94 per kg in Sonipat.
Here’s how prices in these cities compared with Tuesday, July 7: New Delhi, Mumbai, Rewari, Gurugram, Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Sonipat, Chennai, Bangalore, Mathura, Firozabad and Hyderabad all reported no change in the price per kg of CNG, while Bharatpur and Dewas both edged higher.
