Mumbai, June 2: Compressed natural gas prices saw only one revision across India’s major cities on Tuesday, June 2, with Meerut recording a ₹1.88 per kg increase to ₹91.58 the sole city in the current dataset to move on the day. All other cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and the remaining Haryana and Rajasthan markets, held their Monday rates unchanged.

Meerut’s revision to ₹91.58 per kg is the city’s first since absorbing ₹3.65 in cumulative increases earlier in May, suggesting that distribution companies serving the western Uttar Pradesh market are continuing to pass through elevated gas input costs in a staggered manner. At ₹91.58, Meerut now sits significantly above Delhi’s ₹83.09 and Rewari’s ₹87.70 a widening intra-NCR-region price gap that is likely to draw attention from fleet operators and commercial vehicle users who routinely compare rates across nearby distribution zones.

Delhi and the NCR continued to hold at ₹83.09 per kg for a fifth consecutive session, remaining the cheapest major CNG market in the survey despite absorbing a ₹6.00 per kg cumulative hike since May 15. Mumbai held at ₹86.00 per kg, Chennai at ₹96.00, Bangalore at ₹95.00 and Sonipat at ₹92.50. Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura all remained at ₹97.00 the joint-most expensive cities in the dataset.

The pattern of Tuesday’s revision one city moving while eleven hold flat is consistent with the staggered, distribution-company-driven pricing mechanism that governs CNG in India, where each city’s gas distribution entity independently revises rates based on its own procurement costs, network economics and state regulatory approval timelines. With Brent crude holding above $95 a barrel as West Asia ceasefire negotiations remain unresolved, further upward pressure on domestic CNG rates in the sessions ahead cannot be ruled out.
