New Delhi: Media house DB Corp Ltd on Thursday reported a 26.57 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 68.62 crore for the September quarter as its advertising revenue was impacted by a shift in the Navratri festive season.
The company earned a net profit of Rs 93.46 crore a year ago, according to a regulatory filing by DB Corp.
Its revenue from operations slipped 5.46 per cent to Rs 580.81 crore in the September quarter under review. It was Rs 614.41 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
“…last year, Navratra festival season was in Q2, and this year, it falls in Q3, so on a like-to-like basis, DB Corp’s Advertising Revenue and EBITDA registered positive single-digit growth in Q2, excluding the impact of this festive shift,” the company said in its earnings statement.
DB Corp’s total expenses increased 2.55 per cent to Rs 521.41 crore in Q2 FY27.
Its revenue from “printing, publishing and allied business” declined 5.26 per cent to Rs 541.68 crore in the September quarter.
“Circulation remained largely stable, supported by the company’s established reader relationships and strong regional presence. During the quarter, newsprint cost increased by 14 per cent, primarily due to ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and related cost pressures,” it said.
Its revenue from advertising fell 6.37 per cent to Rs 411 crore in the second quarter of FY27. It was Rs 439 crore a year ago.
Similarly, DB Corp’s revenue from the radio business declined 8.6 per cent to Rs 39.17 crore.
The total income of DB Corp, which includes other income, was also down 3.21 per cent to Rs 614.27 crore in the September quarter.
DB Corp is one of the largest print media companies and publishes newspapers – Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar, Divya Marathi and Saurashtra Samachar. It also owns a 94.3 MY FM Radio station.
Shares of DB Corp Ltd on Thursday settled at Rs 166.75 on BSE, down 6.48 per cent from its previous close.
