Mumbai July, 28: Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) has been declared the lowest (L1) bidder for the construction of the Sikasar to Kodar Reservoir Link Canal (Pipeline) under the Pairy Project Scheme in Chhattisgarh, a project valued at ₹2,524.32 crore, excluding GST.

The tender has been floated by the Water Resources Department (WRD), Government of Chhattisgarh, according to the company’s exchange filing.

The project will be executed on a lump-sum contract basis and carries a completion period of 30 months.

Beyond the construction of the pipeline, the scope includes testing, trial runs, commissioning and operation and maintenance of the completed system for five years, making it a long-duration infrastructure assignment rather than a pure construction contract.

The company also clarified that the order is from a domestic entity and that neither the promoters nor the promoter group have any interest in the awarding authority. The contract is not a related-party transaction.

Although DBL has secured L1 status, the project will be added to its executable order book after the formal award and issuance of the Letter of Award by the department.

Shares Trade Lower Despite Positive Development

The Dilip Buildcon share price was ₹436.15 as of 12:03 PM IST on July 28, 2026, down ₹7.50 or 1.69% from the previous close.

The stock remained under pressure during the session even after the company announced its successful bid. Such movements are not uncommon, particularly when broader market sentiment or profit booking outweighs the immediate impact of a fresh project announcement.

Even so, investors typically view large government infrastructure wins as supportive of future revenue visibility because they replenish the execution pipeline over multiple years.

Project Reinforces DBL’s Infrastructure Order Pipeline

The latest project adds another sizeable irrigation assignment to Dilip Buildcon’s portfolio, an area where the company has built significant execution experience alongside highways, mining and urban infrastructure.

The Sikasar-Kodar Reservoir Link Canal is designed to strengthen water infrastructure under the Pairy Project Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Unlike conventional EPC contracts, this project extends beyond construction, requiring DBL to operate and maintain the completed system for five years after commissioning.

That longer engagement can provide sustained execution visibility while reinforcing the company’s credentials in water resource infrastructure projects.

At over ₹2,500 crore, the proposed contract is among the larger project announcements by the company this year and, once formally awarded, is expected to strengthen its order pipeline.

Conclusion

Dilip Buildcon’s emergence as the L1 bidder for a ₹2,524.32 crore canal project marks another significant milestone in its infrastructure business. The project combines civil construction with commissioning and long-term maintenance, extending the company’s role well beyond project execution.

While the market reaction remained muted, with the Dilip Buildcon share price trading 1.69% lower at ₹436.15 as of 12:03 PM IST on July 28, 2026, the proposed award has the potential to meaningfully enhance the company’s future order book once the contract is formally awarded.
