GIFT Nifty Indicates Positive Start to the Indian Market Today

Monday, September 15: The Indian equity market and the included indices are expected to open on a positive note today, giving the Indian stock market a steady start to the week. The positive start is indicated by GIFT Nifty, which is trading 0.06%, or 16.00 points higher at 25,174.50, as of 8:45 AM. The index opened at 25,164.50, up from its previous close of 25,158.50. Until now, it has moved in a narrow band of 25,158.00 and 25,182.00.
Friday’s Session Added Strength
The last trading session on Friday ended up adding strength to both Sensex and Nifty, which closed at their eighth consecutive session in the green. This is the longest streak in the green in recent months. The BSE Sensex closed higher by 355.97 points (0.44%) at 81,904.70. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty 50 closed 108.50 points (0.43%) higher to settle at 25,114.00.
This was the biggest weekly gain for both Sensex and Nifty in nearly three months, with both indices inching up 1.5% each. Large-cap stocks gained the highest, while broader BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices lagged and closed with only marginal gains.
Wall Street Mixed While Asian Equities Flat
On Friday, Wall Street ended on a mixed note. The Nasdaq jumped to a record high of 22,141.10 (+0.45%), driven by tech stocks such as Microsoft. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.59% to 45,834.22, while the S&P 500 slipped 0.05% to 6,584.29.
Asian equities also opened on a muted note as investors stayed cautious due to the upcoming Fed rate decision. Crude oil prices were steady and did not showcase any volatility due to geopolitical tensions. Gold was gold to its record high levels as traders positioned themselves for the potential monetary easing in the US.
FIIs and DIIs Net Buyers
After two days of selling, FIIs finally turned net buyers on Friday, and bought Indian equities worth ₹129 crore. DIIs also supported the markets, purchasing Indian equities worth ₹1,556 crore on the same day.
Positive Outlook for Today
GIFT Nifty is indicating a mildly positive opening to the Indian market today. Sensex and Nifty are expected to open on a positive note. However, traders and investors will be monitoring the narrow trading band and volatility ahead of the upcoming US Federal Reserve’s policy outcome
