Chennai Gold Price Trend
The last 10 days show a fairly uneven price pattern. Gold weakened at the end of June, recovered in the first three days of July, and has been drifting lower since the July 3 high.
On July 1, 24K gold was priced at ₹14,455 per gram, while 22K gold stood at ₹13,250. By July 3, those rates had climbed to ₹14,956 and ₹13,700, respectively. The latest rate of ₹14,542 for 24K gold is still above the July 1 level, but the cushion has narrowed after three straight declines.
The lowest rate for July so far remains ₹14,455 for 24K gold and ₹13,250 for 22K gold, both recorded on July 1.
What Drives Gold Prices?
Gold prices in Chennai are shaped by international bullion rates, rupee-dollar movement, import costs and demand from the domestic jewellery market. Local pricing can also shift slightly across jewellers because making charges and billing practices are not uniform.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Chennai declined on July 8, with 24K, 22K and 18K rates all moving lower from Tuesday’s levels. The market is still above where it began the month, but the gains have thinned after the recent pullback. For jewellery buyers, the headline rate matters, though making charges and GST continue to decide the final amount paid at the counter.
