Kolkata, July 21: Gold prices continued to move higher in Kolkata on Tuesday, marking the second consecutive day of gains. After Monday’s modest increase, the market witnessed a stronger rise today, lifting retail prices across all major purity categories.

According to the latest rates, 24-karat gold is selling at ₹14,422 per gram, up by ₹76 from the previous session. 22-karat gold has increased to ₹13,220 per gram, gaining ₹70, while 18-karat gold is now priced at ₹10,816 per gram, up by ₹57.

The latest rise has helped gold recover further from last week’s weakness. While prices remain below the highs seen earlier this month, the recent momentum suggests buyers have returned after a brief pause.

Kolkata Gold Rate Today

Gold Continues Its Recovery

The mood in the gold market has improved over the last two trading sessions. After spending several days moving within a narrow range, prices have picked up again, reversing part of the decline recorded during the middle of July.

Even with today’s rally, gold is still below the month’s peak, leaving buyers with prices that remain more attractive than those seen during the early-July surge.

The past ten sessions show how quickly sentiment has shifted this month. Today’s gain adds to that recovery, though gold still remains below the month’s highest levels.

The latest recovery has almost erased the month’s decline, with gold now trading only slightly below its opening level for July. One more strong session could push prices back into positive territory for the month.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?

Gold prices fluctuate daily due to changes in international bullion prices, currency movements, import costs, inflation expectations, central bank decisions and geopolitical developments. Since India imports a significant portion of its gold, domestic retail rates often respond quickly to changes in global markets.

Conclusion

Gold prices in Kolkata strengthened further on July 21, extending Monday’s gains with a sharp rise across all purity categories. The recovery has brought the market close to its July opening levels, although prices still remain below the month’s peak. Traders will now watch global bullion trends to see whether the current momentum continues in the coming sessions.
