Gold prices in Kolkata rose on August 17, with 24K gold gaining ₹53 per gram and 22K gold increasing by ₹50 per gram. The 18K rate also climbed by ₹41 per gram, extending the recovery seen over the past few sessions.

Kolkata, August 17: Gold prices in Kolkata moved higher on Monday, with all three major purity categories recording gains. According to the rates shown, 24-karat gold is priced at ₹15,566 per gram, up ₹53 from the previous session.
22-karat gold stands at ₹14,270 per gram, gaining ₹50, while 18-karat gold is priced at ₹11,676 per gram, up ₹41.
The rise comes as gold prices strengthened across Indian markets on August 17. International gold also moved higher, supported by a weaker US dollar and reduced expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike.

Gold Prices Extend Recovery in Kolkata

Monday’s ₹53-per-gram increase takes 24K gold to ₹15,566, its highest level in the 10-day data shown.

For 22K gold, the rate moved from ₹13,965 per gram on August 8 and 9 to ₹13,930 on August 10. It subsequently climbed to ₹14,100 on August 11 and ₹14,195 on August 12, before falling to ₹14,080 on August 13. The rate then recovered to ₹14,155, ₹14,220 and finally ₹14,270.
Overall, 24K gold is ₹331 per gram higher than its August 8 level, while 22K gold has gained ₹305 per gram over the same period.

Gold prices in Kolkata are influenced by international bullion prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, domestic demand, import costs and global economic conditions.
