Mumbai, August 10: Gold prices in Mumbai slipped on Monday after remaining unchanged over the weekend. The decline was broad-based across purity categories, but relatively modest compared with the strong gains recorded earlier in August.
According to today’s retail rates, 24-karat gold is priced at ₹15,197 per gram, down ₹38 from the previous session. 22-karat gold fell ₹35 to ₹13,930 per gram, while 18-karat gold declined ₹28 to ₹11,398 per gram.
Today’s dip comes after gold touched ₹15,235 per gram on August 8 and August 9. So while prices have moved lower today, the metal is still trading close to its recent peak.
Mumbai Gold Rate Today
| Purity | Price per gram | Change |
| 24K Gold | ₹15,197 | -₹38 |
| 22K Gold | ₹13,930 | -₹35 |
| 18K Gold | ₹11,398 | -₹28 |
Gold Pulls Back After Strong August Rally
Mumbai’s gold market has seen some serious movement over the past 10 days.
The month started with 24K gold at ₹14,422 per gram. After slipping to ₹14,400 on August 4, prices quickly turned higher. The following sessions brought a sharp rally, taking gold above ₹15,000 and eventually to ₹15,235 per gram.
Today’s ₹38 decline is relatively small compared with that run-up.
In fact, 24K gold is still ₹775 per gram above its August 1 level. That means the latest weakness has so far done little to change the broader upward trend.
For buyers who were waiting for a correction, today’s lower rate may look slightly more attractive, although gold is still considerably more expensive than it was at the start of the month.
Gold Price in Mumbai Per Gram
| Weight | 24K Gold | 22K Gold | 18K Gold |
| 1 gram | ₹15,197 | ₹13,930 | ₹11,398 |
| 8 grams | ₹1,21,576 | ₹1,11,440 | ₹91,184 |
| 10 grams | ₹1,51,970 | ₹1,39,300 | ₹1,13,980 |
| 100 grams | ₹15,19,700 | ₹13,93,000 | ₹11,39,800 |
The above gold rates are indicative and do not include GST, TCS and other levies. For the exact rates, contact your local jeweller.
What Would 10 Grams of 22K Jewellery Cost Today?
The gold rate is only one part of the final jewellery bill. Jewellers also add making charges and GST, which can push the final amount considerably higher.
Using today’s 22K gold rate of ₹13,930 per gram, and assuming 12% making charges and 3% GST, the estimated cost for 10 grams would be:
| Component | Amount |
| Gold value | ₹1,39,300 |
| Making charges (12%) | ₹16,716 |
| GST (3%) | ₹4,680 |
| Estimated final amount | ₹1,60,696 |
The actual amount can vary depending on the jeweller, design, wastage charges and applicable making charges.
10-Day Gold Price Trend
| Date | 24K Gold | 22K Gold |
| Aug. 10 | ₹15,197 (-₹38) | ₹13,930 (-₹35) |
| Aug. 9 | ₹15,235 (No Change) | ₹13,965 (No Change) |
| Aug. 8 | ₹15,235 (+₹109) | ₹13,965 (+₹100) |
| Aug. 7 | ₹15,126 (+₹153) | ₹13,865 (+₹140) |
| Aug. 6 | ₹14,973 (+₹289) | ₹13,725 (+₹265) |
| Aug. 5 | ₹14,684 (+₹284) | ₹13,460 (+₹260) |
| Aug. 4 | ₹14,400 (-₹22) | ₹13,200 (-₹20) |
| Aug. 3 | ₹14,422 (No Change) | ₹13,220 (No Change) |
| Aug. 2 | ₹14,422 (No Change) | ₹13,220 (No Change) |
| Aug. 1 | ₹14,422 (-₹38) | ₹13,220 (-₹35) |
The 10-day trend tells a pretty clear story. Gold started August quietly before dropping to its lowest point on August 4. What followed was a sharp turnaround, with 24K gold gaining more than ₹800 per gram from August 4 to August 8.
Prices then stayed at ₹15,235 for two sessions before today’s modest pullback.
August Performance So Far
| Particulars | 24K Gold | 22K Gold |
| August 1 Price | ₹14,422 | ₹13,220 |
| August 10 Price | ₹15,197 | ₹13,930 |
| Highest in August | ₹15,235 (Aug. 8–9) | ₹13,965 (Aug. 9) |
| Lowest in August | ₹14,400 (Aug. 4) | ₹13,200 (Aug. 4) |
| Monthly Trend | +5.37% | +5.37% |
Gold has gained more than 5% in Mumbai since the start of August, despite today’s decline. The strongest part of the rally came between August 4 and August 8, when prices climbed rapidly and crossed the ₹15,000-per-gram mark.
With the metal still close to its monthly high, today’s decline looks more like a pause than a major reversal at this stage.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold prices are influenced by a mix of domestic and international factors. Global bullion prices, movements in the Indian rupee against the US dollar, inflation expectations, interest-rate decisions, central bank activity and geopolitical developments can all affect domestic gold rates.
This is why prices can move from one session to the next even when local jewellery demand remains relatively steady.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Mumbai declined on Monday, with 24K gold falling ₹38 to ₹15,197 per gram and 22K gold dropping ₹35 to ₹13,930 per gram. 18K gold also slipped to ₹11,398 per gram.
Despite today’s correction, gold remains 5.37% higher than its August 1 level and is still close to the month’s peak. After such a strong run, some consolidation wouldn’t be surprising, but the broader August trend remains positive.
For buyers, the key question now is whether this is simply a small breather or the beginning of a deeper correction. The answer will depend largely on global bullion prices, currency movements and broader market cues.
