GRSE Signs Two Maritime MoUs With DNV And Damen; Shares Rise 1.40%

Mumbai September, 03: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding with DNV and Damen Technical Cooperation B.V. to expand its capabilities in advanced shipbuilding, maritime technology and dredger construction.

According to the company’s exchange disclosure, the MoU with DNV, a global maritime organisation, will focus on ship design, shipbuilding and marine engineering. The partnership will draw on DNV’s expertise in classification, certification, technical assurance, digitalisation, sustainability and maritime advisory services.

The second MoU, signed with Netherlands-based Damen Technical Cooperation B.V., is aimed at establishing a technical and business framework to explore the design and construction of advanced dredgers in India.

GRSE said there is no financial implication from either MoU at present.

The proposed collaboration covers advanced dredger design and technology, technical know-how transfer, joint design and construction proposals and development of indigenous dredger-building capabilities. It also envisages longer-term cooperation for future dredging requirements.

GRSE said the MoU builds on its existing relationship with Damen, including a 1,000 cubic metre dredger currently under construction for the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority.

The collaboration is intended to strengthen GRSE’s position in the specialised dredger segment while supporting India’s requirements for modern maritime infrastructure.

GRSE Expands Beyond Conventional Warship Building

GRSE is a Navratna defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence and has built a wide range of vessels for the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and overseas customers.

Its capabilities extend across warship design, construction, ship repair and marine engineering. The company has also been developing its presence in commercial shipbuilding and other specialised maritime platforms.

The latest MoUs fit into that broader expansion. One focuses on technology, certification and sustainable shipbuilding with DNV, while the other targets a specialised vessel segment through cooperation with Damen.

International Partnerships Add To GRSE’s Maritime Technology Push

The two agreements were signed during the SMM Hamburg Maritime Trade Fair in Germany, highlighting GRSE’s efforts to deepen international technical collaborations.

The company said these partnerships are intended to combine global expertise with its Indian shipbuilding capabilities. At this stage, however, neither agreement carries an ascertained financial implication, according to the exchange filing.
