IEX Electricity Trade Grows 20% To Hit Record 13,938 MUs in August

New Delhi: Indian Energy Exchange has recorded the highest-ever monthly electricity traded volume of 13,938 million units (MUs) in August 2026, an increase of 20.2 per cent year-on-year.

The average market clearing price in the Day-Ahead Market rose 22 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4.88/unit, according to Indian Energy Exchange data.

Similarly, the average market clearing price in the Real-Time Market jumped 30.4 per cent to Rs 4.41/unit in August 2026.

A total of 2.91 lakh RECs were traded in August 2026, down 86.6 per cent due to lower participation.

Trading sessions were held on August 12, 2026, and August 27, 2026, with clearing prices of Rs 370/REC and Rs 350/REC, respectively.

The next REC trading sessions are scheduled for September 9 and September 30.
