Tokyo: India’s bilateral trade with Japan is expected to reach USD 50 billion by 2030 on account of the growing economic complementarities and deeper business engagement between the two countries, industry body Assocham said on Wednesday.

During the Roundtable on Startups here, Goyal released the Assocham report on India-Japan Bilateral Relations. Assocham President Nirmal Kumar Minda is accompanying the ministers here.

“India’s trade relations with Japan are significantly expanding, with recent exchanges of high-level delegations. Various bilateral trade developments and promising investment announcements are expected to enhance bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030, up from USD 27.47 billion in 2025-26,” it said.

Minda said India-Japan relations have grown significantly over the years, spanning development cooperation, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, investment, and trade.

Given the pace of technological development shaping the world order, Japan may consider establishing more research and development, innovation centres, and global capability centres (GCCs), and creating engineering partnerships with Indian academia, said Minda.
