Mumbai, 25 August 2025 – To mark the observance of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi, Indian financial market trading will remain closed on Wednesday, 27 August 2025.

Market Holiday Calendar

Equities & Equity Derivatives: Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will close all segments, i.e., equities, equity derivatives, currencies, and Securities Lending & Borrowing (SLB) for the day.

Commodities & Agri-Derivatives: The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will be closed for morning session (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), but will trade in the evening (5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.).

Why This Matters:

Mumbai Connection: Ganesh Chaturthi is a compulsory public holiday in Maharashtra, where NSE and BSE are located—resulting in country-wide closure of stock markets.

Context in August 2025: This holiday is the second of only two weekend non-market closures, the first of which is Independence Day, 15 August 2025. Aside from weekends, these are the only interruptions in trading this month.

Upcoming Market Holidays:

October 2 – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti / Dussehra

October 21 – Diwali Laxmi Pujan (Muhurat Trading will be held)

October 22 – Diwali Balipratipada

November 5 – Guru Nanak Jayanti

December 25 – Christmas
