Mumbai, September 11: Mphasis Limited has joined hands with SGBS Unnati Foundation and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited for an urban sustainability initiative focused on maintaining a section of the Bengaluru Metro corridor and improving shared public spaces.

According to the company’s exchange disclosure, SGBS Unnati Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BMRCL for the maintenance of Pier Nos. BP-382 to BP-437.

Mphasis is supporting the initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, with the collaboration aimed at improving the upkeep of the metro corridor and creating cleaner, greener public spaces.

The initiative brings together an IT services company, a social organisation and the city’s metro operator. The stated focus is on practical environmental and community improvements in Bengaluru.

The collaboration is designed to support the upkeep of a defined section of the Bengaluru Metro corridor while contributing to broader environmental sustainability.

Mphasis said the initiative reflects its CSR approach of working with social organisations, government institutions and community stakeholders on environmental and community programmes.

The company has also highlighted other environmental initiatives, including tree planting and maintenance, lake rejuvenation, water conservation and groundwater recharge projects.

Mphasis Expands Environmental And Community Programmes

Over the years, Mphasis has supported programmes covering ecological restoration and community development.

The company said it supports the planting and maintenance of 100,000 trees at the Doddagasare Botanical Garden in Karnataka. It has also contributed to the revival of the Bodanahosahalli Lake and is working on water conservation through the establishment of 1,200 percolation wells across Bengaluru.

These programmes are aimed at improving green cover, supporting groundwater recharge and strengthening local water security.

The latest metro corridor initiative adds urban public-space maintenance to that broader sustainability agenda.

SGBS Unnati Foundation Brings Community Development Focus

SGBS Unnati Foundation works on community development programmes, including its Youth Employability Programme, which focuses on helping underprivileged young people develop job-ready skills.

The foundation became the first NGO in India to be listed on both the NSE and BSE Social Stock Exchanges in December 2023, according to the release.

The partnership with Mphasis and BMRCL combines the foundation’s community-focused work with institutional support and the metro operator’s role in managing urban transport infrastructure.

Mphasis Continues Technology-Led Business Strategy

Mphasis is an AI-led technology services company working with enterprises on digital transformation, cloud, artificial intelligence and modernisation initiatives.
