Mumbai, August 13: Fuel prices remained largely steady across India’s major cities on Thursday. However, in Chandigarh, diesel prices jumped ₹5.05, and in Thiruvananthapuram, petrol and diesel prices fell ₹1.61 and ₹1.62, respectively.
Oil prices fell more than 1% on Thursday as weaker global demand expectations outweighed concerns over supply disruptions linked to the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Brent crude futures fell 1.2% to $87.9 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude declined 1.4% to $82.
The decline came after major oil-market forecasters lowered their outlook for 2026. OPEC cut its forecast for world oil demand growth to 580,000 barrels per day. The International Energy Agency expects global oil consumption to contract by 1.6 million barrels per day this year, compared with its earlier forecast of a 1 million bpd decline.
Oil prices also came under pressure from a much larger-than-expected increase in U.S. crude inventories. The increase came as U.S. crude exports slumped.
However, the decline in oil prices has been limited by persistent geopolitical risks. U.S.-Iran negotiations remain deadlocked.
Supply concerns have also intensified following attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.
Here’s a look at the latest petrol and diesel prices across major Indian cities and state capitals.
