New Delhi: SAIL has posted a marginal rise of 1 per cent in production of crude steel during April-September to 9.6 million tonnes, compared to the year-ago period.
During the first half of FY27, its hot metal output rose by 2 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 10.2 million tonnes (MT), while finished steel increased 1 per cent YoY to 8.39 million tonnes, the company said in a statement.
The percentage of finished steel production in total saleable steel production improved to 89.2 per cent, up from 86.8 per cent in April-September 2025, the company said without sharing the absolute number.
During the period, the dispatches of long rails, and wheels and axles to Indian Railways grew by 7 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively, compared to last year.
