Mumbai, Sept 28: Here are five stocks in focus on Monday, from a Rs 10,000 crore loan approval for Power Grid to a Marine Lines luxury housing project for Godrej Properties to a new pellet plant for NMDC to an ammonia plant revamp order for Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers to a coal-block joint development pact for SAIL. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the session.
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID)
The board has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 10,000 crore through an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit from State Bank of India. The approval came at a board meeting on Saturday, September 26, and was disclosed to the exchanges under SEBI’s listing regulations. The facility is more than double the Rs 4,000 crore SBI loan approved in April, and follows the sanction of a Rs 5,000 crore bond issue. Separately, the company was declared the successful bidder for a Maharashtra transmission project with quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 430.67 crore, its ninth project win through tariff-based competitive bidding this financial year. The stock closed at Rs 269.50 on the NSE on Friday.
Godrej Properties (GODREJPROP)
The company has entered into a development agreement for a prime land parcel of about 2.5 acres in Marine Lines, South Mumbai, for a luxury housing project. It estimates the project’s overall revenue potential at about Rs 6,000 crore, based on current business assumptions. Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Pandey said Mumbai remains a key market and that premium and luxury projects in the city have seen a consistently strong response. The addition extends the developer’s presence in South and Central Mumbai, where it already has projects in Worli and Mahalaxmi. It reported sales bookings of Rs 8,651 crore in the June quarter, up 22 per cent from a year earlier.
NMDC (NMDC)
NMDC has commissioned its 2 million tonne per annum (MTPA) pellet plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh, part of a Rs 5,427 crore integrated project covering iron ore processing, pipeline transportation and pellet making. The project connects its iron ore operations at Bacheli with the steel plant at Nagarnar through a new processing plant, a 135-km slurry pipeline with 15 MTPA capacity and the pellet facility. The pipeline offers an alternative to road transport for processed ore and lowers dependence on the railways. The plant will convert iron ore fines and slimes from the Bailadila mines into pellets for steelmakers, and forms part of a plan to lift iron ore capacity to 100 million tonnes in the long term. The stock closed at Rs 80 on the BSE on Friday.
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF)
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers has awarded a purchase order worth Rs 797 crore, excluding taxes, to Larsen & Toubro (LT) for the revamp of its ammonia plant at Thal in Maharashtra. The order was placed on Friday through the lowest-tender process and is scheduled for completion within 36 months. The scope covers detailed engineering, supply, construction, commissioning and a guarantee run, with the aim of reducing specific energy consumption. The company, in which the Government of India holds a 75 per cent stake, said the contract is not a related-party transaction. Its consolidated net profit rose 35.09 per cent to Rs 73.53 crore in the June quarter, on revenue of Rs 3,585.71 crore. The stock closed at Rs 109 on the BSE on Friday, up 0.55 per cent.
Steel Authority of India (SAIL)
State-run SAIL and Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and operate two coal blocks in West Bengal. The MoU, signed on September 25, covers SAIL’s Indikatta Ramnagore block and BCCL’s East of Damagoria (Kalyaneshwari) block, which together have a peak rated capacity of 4 MTPA and about 79 million tonnes of extractable reserves in Phase I. Coal extraction and overburden dumping will be coordinated between the adjoining blocks, with the arrangement reversed in Phase II. The pact aims to raise domestic coking coal availability for the steel industry. BCCL, a Coal India subsidiary, already counts SAIL among its major customers in the steel sector.
