New Delhi, Aug 27: Silver prices in India were unchanged for a third consecutive session on Thursday morning, holding at the same levels seen since Tuesday. Today’s national rate for silver stands at ₹2,600 per 10 grams, ₹26,000 per 100 grams, and ₹2,60,000 per kilogram — identical to both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s national rate. On a per-gram basis, that works out to ₹260, flat for a third straight session.

The unchanged reading extends Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s own flat national moves, marking three consecutive sessions without any change at the national level — one of the quietest stretches for silver pricing in India this month. City-wise pricing was equally steady: Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala held at ₹2,650 per 10 grams for a third straight day, while the remaining seven cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad — stayed at ₹2,600 per 10 grams. Every one of the ten cities tracked by Goodreturns showed no change from Wednesday’s close.

Silver price in India is determined largely by international prices, which move in either direction depending on global industrial demand, investment flows and mining supply. Currency movement also plays a part: if the rupee weakens against the dollar while international silver prices hold firm, the metal tends to become costlier in India. Thursday’s flat move suggests both global prices and the rupee held steady overnight for a third straight session, even as gold extended a sharper pullback of its own on Thursday.

Dealers said Thursday’s flat reading points to silver remaining firmly range-bound after last week’s sharp gains, with neither fresh buying nor selling pressure strong enough to move prices in either direction for three sessions running. Traders said silver’s near-term direction will likely hinge on fresh cues from the US Federal Reserve and any further movement in the US-Iran standoff, alongside industrial demand from electronics and solar-panel manufacturers, none of which offered a clear signal through the week so far.

Market participants added that silver continues to draw interest from retail investors looking for a lower-cost alternative to gold, with three flat sessions in a row offering an unusually settled backdrop even as gold prices have swung more sharply this week.

City-Wise Silver Rates: Wednesday vs Thursday

The table below sets Wednesday’s (Aug 26) silver rates for 10 major Indian cities against Thursday’s (Aug 27) rates, quoted per 10 grams. Every city recorded no change for a third straight session, extending the flat run seen since Tuesday and marking one of the quietest multi-day stretches for silver pricing in India this month.

On a per-kilogram basis, Thursday’s rates remain at ₹2,65,000 in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala, and ₹2,60,000 in the remaining seven cities — unchanged for a third straight session across every market. Retail buyers are reminded that these are indicative bullion rates, and actual prices at silverware and jewellery counters will typically include additional making charges and applicable GST.

Market watchers said three consecutive flat sessions suggest silver has settled into a firm short-term equilibrium after last week’s sharp moves, in contrast to gold, which has pulled back for two straight sessions this week. The metal is likely to stay range-bound until a fresh catalyst — such as a shift in the US Federal Reserve’s policy stance or a change in the US-Iran standoff — emerges to move it in either direction.

Historically, silver has traded at a small fraction of gold’s price per gram, and three flat sessions in a row did little to change that broad relationship, especially with gold itself sliding this week. Analysts tracking the gold-silver ratio said silver’s steadiness even as gold eases suggests the white metal is drawing independent support from its industrial-demand base, rather than simply following gold’s moves. That said, silver’s added industrial-use component means it can occasionally decouple from gold during periods when manufacturing or green-energy demand shifts independently of investment sentiment.

Senco Gold’s stock continued to trade below the price at which Vision Ahead Services Private Limited had acquired its 10,00,064-share stake earlier in the week, in a bulk deal worth approximately ₹36.56 crore at ₹365.66 per share. The stock slipped further on Thursday morning, even as silver prices themselves held flat for a third straight session.
