New Delhi, Nov 3: Silver prices held at Rs 2,000 per 10 grams on Tuesday, according to Goodreturns.in. That works out to Rs 200 per gram and Rs 20,000 per 100 grams, while one kilogram of silver costs Rs 2,00,000. The rate is the same in all ten major cities tracked, from Chennai to Ahmedabad. These are bullion rates and do not include taxes or making charges.
Silver prices in India are linked to international prices, which can move in either direction, and local dealers adjust their rates accordingly. Monday’s city-wise listings also showed silver at Rs 2,00,000 per kilogram, so today’s rate is unchanged from the previous session.
Several factors move the rate from day to day, including international silver prices, the rupee and expectations for US interest rates. The US Federal Reserve left rates unchanged on October 28, after raising them by 25 basis points in September to 3.75%-4.00%, and traders are still assessing what that means for precious metals.
For a buyer of 10 grams, the price is Rs 2,000 before taxes. A purchase of 20 grams costs Rs 4,000 and 50 grams costs Rs 10,000. Anyone buying 100 grams will pay Rs 20,000.
On a per-gram basis, silver is at Rs 200. For bulk buyers, one kilogram costs Rs 2,00,000, and the same rate applies in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad as well as Chennai. A 5-kilogram purchase would cost Rs 10,00,000 at today’s rate.
Silver has weakened over the past month. Anand Rathi’s silver tracker showed Rs 2,20,000 per kilogram on October 27 and Rs 2,35,000 on October 1. Against those levels, today’s Rs 2,00,000 is Rs 20,000 or about 9.09% lower than on October 27 and Rs 35,000 or about 14.89% lower than on October 1. In 10-gram terms, that is Rs 200 and Rs 350 less.
Silver is far cheaper than gold, but gold has also slipped from its October 12 peak. A gram of 24-carat gold costs Rs 13,964 today, about 69.8 times the Rs 200 for a gram of silver. The lower price per gram makes silver popular with smaller buyers, though its price swings can be sharper than gold’s.
Silverware and jewellery will cost more once making charges and 3% GST are added. GST alone comes to about ₹60 on 10 grams of silver, ₹600 on 100 grams and ₹6,000 on a kilogram.
With Dhanteras and Diwali only days away, silver coins, bars and utensils are traditional purchases at this time of year. At today’s rate, a 50-gram silver coin or bar costs ₹10,000 before making charges and GST.
City-Wise Silver Rates Today
The table below lists silver rates for ten major Indian cities for 10 grams, 100 grams and one kilogram. All ten cities show the same rates today. On some days earlier this year, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala quoted silver Rs 5,000 per kilogram higher than other cities, but no such gap is visible now.
Silver: 10 Major Cities (10 gm, 100 gm and 1 kg)
| City | 10 gm | 100 gm | 1 kg |

| Mumbai | ₹2,000 | ₹20,000 | ₹2,00,000 |

Senco Gold was the strongest. It opened at ₹300.35 against a previous close of ₹298.85, 0.50 per cent higher, touched a low of ₹300.30 and has stayed above the previous close all morning. It rose to a high of ₹304.45, 1.87 per cent above it. It is trading at ₹303.80, up ₹4.95 or 1.66 per cent, and above its volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of ₹302.98.
Vaibhav Global opened at ₹155.90 against a previous close of ₹155.29, 0.39 per cent higher, and touched a low of ₹155.60. It then jumped to a high of ₹159.78, 2.89 per cent above the previous close, before easing. It is at ₹157.64, up ₹2.35 or 1.51 per cent, but below its VWAP of ₹158.06.
Silgo Retail opened lower at ₹69.97 against a previous close of ₹70.39. The stock has moved between a low of ₹69.21, 1.68 per cent below the previous close, and a high of ₹71.17, 1.11 per cent above it. It is at ₹70.66, up ₹0.27 or 0.38 per cent, and above its VWAP of ₹70.43.
PN Gadgil Jewellers was the only decliner. It opened lower at ₹571.00 against a previous close of ₹575.70 and has ranged between a low of ₹568.70, 1.22 per cent below the previous close, and a high of ₹578.35, 0.46 per cent above it. It is at ₹574.05, down ₹1.65 or 0.29 per cent, and just below its VWAP of ₹574.39.
Silver stood still on Tuesday, yet three of the four jewellery counters gained. Senco Gold and Vaibhav Global beat the Nifty 50, which was up 0.91 per cent, while Silgo Retail and PN Gadgil Jewellers lagged. The Nifty 50 has risen about 2.6 per cent in two sessions, from Friday’s close of 23,053.10. With silver flat, the moves in these stocks appear to follow the broader market rally rather than the metal.
Order book data showed sellers ahead on all four counters. They led on PN Gadgil Jewellers at 69.10 per cent, with 75,026 shares against 33,547 on the buy side, on Senco Gold at 64.66 per cent, with 1,89,821 shares against 1,03,729, on Vaibhav Global at 64.21 per cent, with 1,42,106 shares against 79,209, and on Silgo Retail at 52.47 per cent, with 13,802 shares against 12,502.
The wider market also stayed firm. Gift Nifty futures for November 23 were at 23,695.00 around 10:42 am, up 455.00 points or 1.96 per cent, and NSE’s market capitalisation stood at ₹478.39 lakh crore ($5.04 trillion) as of Monday. The rupee was firmer too: USD/INR futures for the November 26 contract were quoted at ₹95.07 around 10:44 am, against ₹95.51 on Friday. A firmer rupee tends to make imported silver cheaper in domestic terms, which can limit gains in local rates.
Gold Rates Today
24-carat gold costs Rs 1,39,640 per 10 gm (Rs 13,964 per gram) in most cities, up Rs 270 from Monday.
22-carat gold is at Rs 1,28,000 per 10 gm (Rs 12,800 per gram), up Rs 250.
18-carat gold is at Rs 1,04,730 per 10 gm (Rs 10,473 per gram), up Rs 200.
Delhi is the costliest city, with 24-carat gold at Rs 1,39,790 per 10 gm, Rs 150 above the Mumbai cluster.
