New Delhi, Oct 5: Silver is steady at Rs 2,350 per 10 grams today in India. That’s Rs 235 per gram or Rs 2,35,000 per kg. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala continue to be at a premium, with prices at Rs 2,450 per 10 grams, i.e., Rs 245 per gram or Rs 2,45,000 per kg. Compared with Thursday, October 1, there is no change in any of the 10 cities tracked, i.e., a 0 per cent move. The gap of Rs 100 per 10 grams between South India and the rest of the country, which reappeared on Thursday, is still in place. Silver prices in India depend on international silver prices. Prices may increase or decrease during the day depending on global prices.

The cities at Rs 2,350 per 10 grams on both days are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. They had fallen by Rs 50 from Rs 2,400 on Thursday, and that lower level is where they stand today. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala, which had gained Rs 50 to Rs 2,450 on Thursday, are at the same Rs 2,450. The comparison covers only the two end points, so it does not capture any moves in between. For 100 grams, most cities are at Rs 23,500 and the three southern markets at Rs 24,500, a difference of Rs 1,000.

As always, many retail customers buy silver because they feel it is cheaper than gold. Since silver is much cheaper per gram, people prefer it over gold. You can also invest in silver ETFs if you don’t want to buy the physical metal. With prices unchanged from Thursday, buyers who were waiting for a clear direction have little new to react to. However, customers in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala will still have to pay more per gram.

You’ll be paying more for silver jewellery than the rates mentioned above, as making charges are added to the silver prices, along with 3 per cent GST on silver. Keep this in mind when comparing silver prices in the market. These prices are only for reference, and you must confirm the rates with your jeweller or dealer before buying.

Silver demand has remained steady in the run-up to the festive season. Customers are still in wait-and-watch mode ahead of Navratri and Diwali. With prices flat since Thursday, the near-term direction will depend on global cues. Customers who want to buy coins in bulk for gifting will notice a big difference of Rs 10,000 per kg.

The intraday range of Rs 10.43 was the widest of the four counters.

Senco Gold (SENCO) opened at Rs 317.40, in line with its previous close, touched a high of Rs 319.90 and slid to a low of Rs 313.35. It was trading at Rs 314.25, down 0.99 per cent and below its VWAP of Rs 315.69. PN Gadgil Jewellers (PNGJL) opened higher at Rs 586.95 against a previous close of Rs 581.95, hit a high of Rs 587.10 and fell steadily to a low of Rs 572.35. It was trading at Rs 576.35, down 0.96 per cent and below its VWAP of Rs 579.42.

Silgo Retail opened at Rs 70.89 against a previous close of Rs 70.17, touched a high of Rs 70.94 and eased to a low of Rs 69.93. It was trading at Rs 70.00, down 0.24 per cent and below its VWAP of Rs 70.21. Compared with late-morning levels on Thursday, all four counters are lower. Senco Gold is down Rs 4.05 or 1.27 per cent from Rs 318.30, PN Gadgil Jewellers by Rs 0.90 or 0.16 per cent from Rs 577.25, Silgo Retail by Rs 0.39 or 0.55 per cent from Rs 70.39, and Vaibhav Global by Rs 1.56 or 0.77 per cent from Rs 202.10.

Unchanged silver rates alongside falling stock prices point to stock-specific positioning rather than a clean read-through from the metal. All four counters slipped even though the Nifty 50 was almost flat, and Vaibhav Global fell the most. Whether bullion-linked stocks begin to track silver or the wider market through the afternoon session will be the thing to watch.

Order book data showed selling pressure dominated on three of the four counters. Sell orders made up 67.19 per cent of total quantity on PN Gadgil Jewellers, 64.03 per cent on Silgo Retail and 62.48 per cent on Vaibhav Global. Senco Gold was the only counter where buyers had the edge, at 51.15 per cent. On Thursday, by contrast, sellers led on Senco Gold at 62.79 per cent.
