People prefer to buy silver because it is cheaper than gold. Silver costs ₹235 per gram, whereas 24-carat gold costs ₹14,957 per gram, making gold about 64 times more expensive than silver.
Since there has been no movement in silver prices since Monday, there is not much to go by if you are looking to make a buying decision. Those looking to buy silver in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala will have to pay an additional ₹10 per gram compared with the national rate.
The above silver prices are for the metal only. If you are looking to purchase silver jewellery, you will have to pay more than these rates. Silver jewellery also attracts making charges and 3% GST. Please keep this in mind when comparing silver prices.
These silver prices are for reference only. Always check with your local jeweller or dealer before making any purchase.
There has been consistent demand for silver over the last couple of weeks as the festive season approaches. Many buyers have been waiting for the right time to make their purchases during the upcoming festive period, including Navratri and Diwali. Since silver prices have remained unchanged since Monday, we can only assume that global factors will determine their movement.
