New Delhi, Sept 22: Silver in India was trading at ₹2,500 per 10 grams nationally on Tuesday, translating to ₹250 per gram and ₹2,50,000 per kilogram, according to Goodreturns.in, which tracks daily dealer-forum rates across major cities. Silver price in India is largely determined by international prices, which move the 10-gram rate in either direction through the day, and local demand and supply typically play only a marginal role in shifting city-level rates on their own.
Seven of the ten major cities tracked, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, were quoting silver at ₹2,500 per 10 grams through the morning, unchanged from Monday’s close. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala eased to ₹2,550 per 10 grams, down ₹50 from Monday’s ₹2,600, paring back part of the sharp one-session jump seen at the start of the week, though the three cities continued to hold a ₹50 premium over the rest of the country rather than giving up the gain entirely.
City-Wise Silver Rates: Today vs Yesterday
The table below sets Monday’s (Sept 21) 10-gram silver rates for ten major Indian cities against Tuesday’s (Sept 22) rates, along with the change over the session.

Retail buyers have continued to treat silver as a lower-cost entry point into precious metals, helped by its far smaller per-gram price compared with gold. Historically, silver always trades for a fraction of gold’s price on a per-gram basis, and investors looking to gain exposure to the metal without the hassle of storage or purity checks could consider Silver ETFs, which track the metal’s price rather than requiring physical delivery.
Silver jewellery and ornaments typically cost more than the flat 10-gram rates listed above once making charges are added, along with a 3 per cent GST levied on metallic silver. Buyers should factor in these additional costs before comparing quoted bullion rates against what a jeweller ultimately charges at the counter. Rates published here are indicative and subject to change through the trading day, so dealers advise confirming the final price with a local jeweller or bullion dealer before any purchase.
India fetches its daily nationwide silver rates from designated dealer forums in each city, compiled and published every morning. Because these prices are subject to revision as global spot silver moves, the figures quoted at the start of trade can differ meaningfully from what a buyer is quoted later in the day, particularly during sessions when international metal markets are volatile.
With Navratri still weeks away and Diwali further out, jewellers said footfall for silver coins, idols and small gift items has remained steady rather than picking up sharply, with most buyers still in a wait-and-watch mode ahead of the festive season proper. Tuesday’s pullback in the three southern markets, following Monday’s sharp rise, has left dealers watching whether rates settle at the new ₹2,550 level or continue drifting back toward last week’s ₹2,500 base over the coming sessions. Bulk buyers of coins and bars for gifting later in the year remain the segment most sensitive to these day-to-day swings, jewellers added, since even a modest percentage move translates into a meaningful rupee difference at kilogram-scale purchases.
Jewellery Stocks Today
Shares of listed jewellery and bullion-linked companies were mixed in early trade on Tuesday, tracking the broader movement in precious metal prices. Of the four counters tracked, Senco Gold and Silgo Retail were trading lower, while PN Gadgil Jewellers and Vaibhav Global held on to gains, with Vaibhav Global the session’s strongest performer.
| Company | Ticker | Price | Change |

Senco Gold opened flat at ₹341.90, matching its previous close, touched an early high of ₹344.70, then reversed through the session to a low of ₹340.00 before settling at ₹340.50, a loss of 0.41 per cent with the stock trading below its volume-weighted average price of ₹342.03. PN Gadgil Jewellers opened slightly lower at ₹601.05 against a previous close of ₹601.55, rallied to a high of ₹604.80, dipped to a low of ₹599.00 around mid-session, then recovered to close the morning at ₹603.45, a gain of 0.32 per cent and comfortably above its VWAP of ₹602.36.
Silgo Retail opened higher at ₹70.60 against a previous close of ₹70.02, touched the same level as its high before sliding through the morning to a low of ₹68.18, then recovering only part of the way to ₹69.77, a decline of 0.36 per cent and the session’s most volatile counter by range. Vaibhav Global opened at ₹209.10 against a previous close of ₹208.01, climbed to a high of ₹211.32, eased to a low of ₹208.80, and settled at ₹209.60, ending the morning session up 0.76 per cent and the clear outperformer among the four counters, trading below its VWAP of ₹210.07.
Market watchers said Tuesday’s mixed session, with two counters higher and two lower, points to stock-specific positioning rather than a uniform read-through from silver prices, which eased in the three southern city markets through the morning. Senco Gold and Silgo Retail both slipped from their opening levels through the session, while Vaibhav Global’s steady climb to a fresh intraday high stood out as the clearest gainer among the four. PN Gadgil Jewellers, which had dipped sharply below its previous close by mid-morning, staged the sharpest recovery of the session to end comfortably in positive territory by the time of writing.
Trading volumes across the four counters were broadly in line with recent sessions, dealers said, with Senco Gold and Vaibhav Global seeing the heaviest turnover among the group. Sell-side interest outweighed buying interest on three of the four counters by mid-morning, order book data showed, suggesting profit-booking rather than a change in the underlying trend even where stocks held on to gains.
