New Delhi, Sept 29: Silver in India held broadly steady on Tuesday morning, with the national rate at ₹2,400 per 10 grams, translating to ₹240 per gram and ₹2,40,000 per kilogram. The reading is unchanged from Monday’s ₹2,400 level, marking the first flat session after Monday’s ₹50 fall from Friday. Silver price in India is largely determined by international prices, which move the 10-gram rate in either direction through the day, and rates remain subject to revision as trading progresses.
Seven of the 10 major cities tracked, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, held at ₹2,400 per 10 grams, exactly where they stood on Monday. The three southern markets, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala, eased by a rupee each to ₹2,449 from ₹2,450, a change too small to register at the round-number level but enough to trim their premium over the rest of the country slightly. The move leaves silver largely rangebound after two sessions of sharper swings last week.
City-Wise Silver Rates: Today vs Monday
The table below sets Monday’s (Sept 28) 10-gram silver rates for 10 major Indian cities against Tuesday’s (Sept 29) rates, along with the change over the period.

| Vadodara | ₹2,400 | ₹2,400 | No change |
| Ahmedabad | ₹2,400 | ₹2,400 | No change |

Retail buyers have continued to treat silver as a lower-cost entry point into precious metals, helped by its far smaller per-gram price compared with gold. Investors looking to gain exposure to the metal without the hassle of storage or purity checks could consider Silver ETFs, which track the metal’s price rather than requiring physical delivery.
Silver jewellery and ornaments typically cost more than the flat 10-gram rates listed above once making charges are added, along with a 3 per cent GST levied on metallic silver. Buyers should factor in these additional costs before comparing quoted bullion rates against what a jeweller ultimately charges at the counter. Rates published here are indicative, so dealers advise confirming the final price with a local jeweller or bullion dealer before any purchase.
With the festive season drawing closer, jewellers said footfall for silver coins, idols and small gift items has remained steady, with most buyers in a wait-and-watch mode ahead of Navratri and Diwali. Tuesday’s near-unchanged rates, coming after Monday’s ₹50 fall, have left dealers watching whether the pause holds through the week. Bulk buyers of coins and bars for gifting later in the year remain most sensitive to such swings, since even a modest move adds up at kilogram scale.
Jewellery Stocks Today
Shares of listed jewellery and bullion-linked companies were mixed in mid-morning trade on Tuesday, even as the broader market stayed weak. The Nifty 50 was trading around 22,595, down about 185 points or 0.82 per cent, with Gift Nifty futures down 0.88 per cent. Senco Gold and Silgo Retail were higher, while PN Gadgil Jewellers and Vaibhav Global were lower, with Senco Gold the session’s standout gainer.
| Company | Ticker | Price | Change |
| Senco Gold | SENCO | ₹324.80 | +₹6.50 (+2.04%) |
| PN Gadgil Jewellers | PNGJL | ₹582.35 | -₹3.00 (-0.51%) |
| Silgo Retail | SILGO | ₹69.39 | +₹1.08 (+1.58%) |

Senco Gold opened at ₹321.75 against a previous close of ₹318.30, climbed through the morning to a high of ₹331.50, then eased back to trade at ₹324.80, up 2.04 per cent and comfortably above its volume-weighted average price of ₹327.05 for part of the session before settling below it.
Silgo Retail opened at ₹69.03 against a previous close of ₹68.31, dipped to a low of ₹68.92, then climbed to a fresh intraday high of ₹69.43 and was trading at ₹69.39, up 1.58 per cent and above its VWAP of ₹69.08.
PN Gadgil Jewellers opened flat at ₹585.35 against a previous close of ₹585.35, briefly touched a high of ₹586.00, then slid sharply to a low of ₹572.70 before recovering part of the way to ₹582.35, down 0.51 per cent and just above its VWAP of ₹581.30.
Vaibhav Global opened lower at ₹199.00 against a previous close of ₹199.72, rallied to a high of ₹204.02, then gave up the entire gain, falling to a low of ₹198.16 before trading at ₹199.56, down a marginal 0.08 per cent and below its VWAP of ₹200.95.
Market watchers said the split outcome, with two counters higher and two lower even as the Nifty 50 fell over 0.8 per cent, points to stock-specific buying in Senco Gold and Silgo Retail rather than a silver-driven move. Senco’s climb to a fresh intraday high was the sharpest gain among the four, while PN Gadgil’s reversal from a flat open to a steep low stood out as the weakest.
Order book data showed selling pressure dominated on three of the four counters. Sell orders made up 58.25 per cent of total quantity on Senco Gold and 59.97 per cent on PN Gadgil Jewellers, even though Senco ended the morning sharply higher, while Vaibhav Global saw 51.56 per cent sell-side quantity. Silgo Retail was the only counter where buying led, at 57.12 per cent of total quantity, in line with its gains through the session.
