New Delhi, September 24: Suzlon Energy Limited has announced a major renewable energy transition today, on September 24. It announced that it will convert its entire vehicle fleet to electric by 2035. This comes after the company previously committed that it will power all its facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030. The transition to renewable energy is said to be under the global EV100 initiative by Climate Group. The initiative is for companies worldwide that are committed to make electric transport a common norm by 2030.

Suzlon Energy Limited is an Indian renewable energy company that manufactures wind turbines. The company was established in 1995 and has its headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The shares of the company are listed on NSE with the ticker symbol SUZLON and on BSE with the code 532667.

655 Vehicles to Go Electric

Suzlon announced that as a part of its electric transitioning plan, 655 vehicles will be changed and they will run on electric power by 2035. The vehicles include both owned and leased fleets in the 3.5T and 3.5-7.5T categories. By this move, Suzlon aims to lower its carbon footprint, reduce its fuel consumption, and support India’s plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

The plan also contributes to the company’s ESG commitments for 2035 and to reduce Scope 1 emissions. These are emissions from direct company-owned sources.
