Mumbai, October 8, 2025 – Tata Motors Ltd. (NSE: TATAMOTORS) shares fell nearly 2% on Wednesday after Jaguar Land Rover, their UK-based unit, announced weak sales for Q2 of FY26.

Tata Motors, a part of the Tata Group, is one of India’s mid-cap automotive manufacturers that produces a range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and buses, but not two-wheelers. Tata owns subsidiary companies through Tata Motors, including Jaguar Land Rover, Iveco, and Tata Daewoo.

Share Price Performance

The stock declined by 2.54% at the close, marking ₹680.30, compared to ₹698.05 in the preceding close. The stock reached an intra-day low of ₹682.55 and an intra-day high of ₹702.00 during the session, with a total turnover of 142.04 lakh shares and a total value of ₹981.67 crore.

JLR’s Sales Slump Hits Sentiment

Investor confidence dipped after JLR disclosed a 24.2% drop in wholesale and a 17.1% fall in retail sales for the quarter. The decline was primarily driven by a cyber incident in September that temporarily halted production and the planned discontinuation of legacy Jaguar models.

Management Response and Recovery Efforts

Notwithstanding the disruption, JLR Chief Executive Adrian Mardell said production is beginning to restart at key sites and the company is still focused on recovery and solidifying the resilience of its supply chain.

While short-term challenges persist, Tata Motors’ recovery will depend on JLR’s production stabilization and the success of its upcoming electric and premium vehicle lineup.
