Mumbai, September 02: Tilaknagar Industries Limited is stepping into India’s growing tequila market with a ₹22 crore strategic investment in Black Tiger Distilleries Private Limited, the company behind Bodega Suprema No. 5.
As per the company’s exchange disclosure, Tilaknagar Industries will invest ₹22 crore in two tranches to acquire a 30% stake in Black Tiger Distilleries on a fully diluted basis. The first tranche will involve an investment of ₹6 crore, followed by a second investment of ₹16 crore over the next 12 months.
For Tilaknagar Industries, the deal is more than another investment. It gives the company a foothold in tequila and agave spirits, a category that is still relatively young in India but is seeing increasing consumer interest.
The company said the investment is its third strategic investment in an emerging beverage business and its first foray into the agave category.
Stock Market Snapshot
The Tilaknagar Industries share price was at ₹547 as of 12:42 PM IST on September 2, 2026, up ₹1.30, or 0.24%, from the previous close of ₹545.70.
The stock had a volatile start to the session. It touched a high of ₹549.45 and fell to a low of ₹531.50 before recovering during the late morning trade.
The modest gain came as the market assessed the company’s latest move into the premium tequila segment.

Black Tiger Distilleries Makes Bodega Suprema No. 5
Black Tiger Distilleries is an Indian spirits company focused on developing premium agave-based brands. Its flagship Bodega Suprema No. 5 is made from 100% Blue Weber agave and is produced in Jalisco, Mexico.
The brand has three expressions: Blanco, Reposado and Añejo. The products are being positioned across different price points within India’s premium spirits market.
Tilaknagar Industries said it will support the venture through its experience in sales, marketing, distribution, supply chain, finance and regulatory functions. That gives the investment an operating component beyond simply taking a financial stake.
Investment Broadens Tilaknagar Industries’ Premium Spirits Strategy
Tilaknagar Industries has spent decades building its presence in the Indian-made foreign liquor market, with brands such as Mansion House forming part of its established portfolio.
The company has more recently been adding premium offerings and pursuing partnerships in newer beverage categories. The Black Tiger investment extends that strategy into tequila, while giving the company access to a category it expects to develop alongside its existing spirits business.
According to the disclosure, Tilaknagar Industries sees room for premium tequila as drinking preferences in India evolve and consumers become more familiar with international spirits categories.
Conclusion
The ₹22 crore investment gives Tilaknagar Industries a 30% fully diluted stake in Black Tiger Distilleries and marks its entry into India’s tequila market.
The partnership combines Black Tiger’s tequila-focused business and Mexican production base with Tilaknagar Industries’ experience in the Indian spirits market, including distribution and brand-building.
Shares were trading at ₹547, up 0.24%, as of 12:42 PM IST on September 2, 2026.
