Why Top Gainers & Losers List Matters
The top gainers and losers list gives a quick sense of where buying and selling interest is concentrated during the trading day. A sharp price move can sometimes be linked to company-specific developments, sector sentiment or broader market conditions. Looking at trading volume alongside the percentage change makes the picture a little clearer, as a price move backed by substantial activity can attract more market attention. Still, a day’s gain or loss should not be treated as a standalone signal for making an investment decision.
Conclusion
At 3:00 PM IST on September 1, 2026, ITC Ltd was the strongest gainer among the selected stocks, rising 4.34%. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd and HCL Technologies Ltd also posted gains of more than 3%, while Reliance Industries Ltd advanced 2.03%. On the downside, Shriram Finance Ltd recorded the sharpest fall at 4.82%, with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and InterGlobe Aviation Ltd also seeing significant declines. The session highlighted a clear divergence between stocks attracting buying interest and those facing heavier selling pressure.
