Mumbai September, 08: Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power Limited, has commissioned 322 MWp of ground-mounted decentralised solar power projects across Nashik district in Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0.

According to the exchange disclosure, the projects have been developed across 50 locations covering 14 talukas in Nashik district. The portfolio has been implemented under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme, which focuses on solarising agricultural feeders.

Electricity generated from these projects will be supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited under 25-year Power Purchase Agreements. The decentralised setup is designed to bring solar generation closer to agricultural feeders rather than relying entirely on power supplied from distant generation centres.

The project involved work across multiple sites, including land development, grid connectivity, local clearances, engineering and construction. Torrent Power said the commissioning was completed through coordinated execution across the different locations.

For farmers, the underlying objective is to make more renewable power available to agricultural feeders during the daytime. For the power network, decentralised generation can also help improve efficiency and reduce distribution losses.

Stock Market Snapshot

The Torrent Power share price was trading at ₹1,268.80, down ₹7.10 or 0.56%, as of 11:24:01 AM IST on September 8, 2026, according to the market data shown.

The stock opened at around ₹1,267 and moved up to approximately ₹1,273.50 during the morning before giving up part of those gains. At the latest timestamp, it was trading below the previous close of ₹1,275.90.

The decline was relatively limited, with the stock continuing to move within a narrow range during the session. The commissioning announcement itself does not disclose any immediate financial impact or change to Torrent Power’s earnings guidance.

Nashik Solar Projects Add To Torrent Power’s Renewable Portfolio

The 322 MWp portfolio gives Torrent Power another sizeable renewable energy asset in Maharashtra and expands its involvement in decentralised solar generation.

The company is developing renewable projects alongside its existing generation business, with its portfolio covering solar and other clean energy technologies. The Nashik projects also fit with the broader shift towards supplying renewable electricity directly to agricultural and rural feeders.

The 25-year PPAs provide a long-term framework for selling the electricity generated from the commissioned plants to MSEDCL.

Torrent Power Has 6.66 GW Operational Generation Capacity

Torrent Power has an integrated presence across power generation, transmission and distribution. The company has an operational generation capacity of 6.66 GW, comprising 2.73 GW of gas-based capacity, 2.20 GW of renewable capacity and 1.73 GW of coal-based capacity.

It also has renewable projects under construction, along with pumped storage capacity under development. The company distributes nearly 31 billion units of electricity to around 4.3 million customers across its licensed and distribution areas.

Its distribution operations cover cities and regions in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

The commissioning of the Nashik portfolio therefore adds to an existing renewable and distribution platform rather than representing a standalone entry into the solar power business.

Conclusion

Torrent Green Energy has commissioned 322 MWp of decentralised solar projects across 50 locations in 14 talukas of Nashik district under Maharashtra’s MSKVY 2.0 scheme.

The projects will supply renewable electricity to MSEDCL under 25-year PPAs and are aimed at supporting agricultural feeder solarisation, improving grid efficiency and increasing daytime renewable power availability for farmers.

The commissioning adds to Torrent Power’s renewable generation portfolio and strengthens its presence in decentralised solar infrastructure in Maharashtra.

On the market front, the Torrent Power share price stood at ₹1,268.80 as of 11:24:01 AM IST on September 8, 2026, down 0.56% from the previous close of ₹1,275.90.
