Mumbai, July 29: Suzlon Energy, Vodafone Idea, Paradeep Phosphates and PC Jeweller were the most actively traded by volume on the NSE on Wednesday. Paradeep Phosphates rose 11.28% on report card, while Suzlon Energy fell 3.71% following results. Vodafone Idea gained 0.46% after adding subscribers for the fifth consecutive month, while PC Jeweller declined 0.98%.

Suzlon Energy Limited (down 3.71%)

Suzlon Energy came under heavy selling pressure following the renewable energy company’s June-quarter results, falling in two sessions.

The stock extended its decline after the company’s first-quarter earnings. Suzlon showed a 5.9% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to 305 crore from 324 crore in the year-ago period.

The decline in profitability came despite a strong performance on the revenue front. Revenue from operations increased 22.5% year-on-year to 3,819 crore from 3,117 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company’s earnings were affected by logistics disruptions linked to geopolitical developments, along with higher investments and a change in project mix.

However, Suzlon saw strong demand.

The company ended the quarter with a cumulative order book of around 6.1 GW. Its first-quarter deliveries also reached a record 506 MW.

Vodafone Idea Limited (up 0.46%)

Vodafone Idea gained on Wednesday after adding subscribers for the fifth consecutive month, with the telecom operator’s user base increasing by 1,63,757 in June 2026, according to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

The stock had declined on Tuesday after a report suggested that Vodafone Idea may not renew 39.5 MHz of spectrum holdings across the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands in six circles.

Also, network equipment makers are reportedly preparing to raise prices.

Higher equipment costs could put additional pressure on Vodafone Idea’s capital expenditure at a time when the financially stressed operator is seeking to expand its network and narrow the 5G deployment gap with larger rivals. Any increase in the cost of network expansion could make timely access to funding even more critical for the company.

Vodafone Idea’s proposed 35,000-crore debt fundraising is expected to be key to its expansion plans, with the funds likely to be used to strengthen its 4G network and accelerate 5G investments. However, the proposal is still awaiting final approval from the company’s lending consortium.

A delay in securing the funds could complicate Vodafone Idea’s plans to step up capital expenditure, particularly if network equipment costs rise further.

Paradeep Phosphates Limited (up 11.28%)

Shares of Paradeep Phosphates gained sharply on Wednesday after the fertiliser maker reported a strong performance for the first quarter of FY27, with a sharp improvement in profitability and higher revenue. The company also announced plans to invest 250 crore in a new aluminium fluoride plant, adding to investor optimism around its expansion strategy.

The company saw a 24% year-on-year rise in profit.

The company’s revenue from operations rose to 6,124.3 crore in the June quarter from 4,503.5 crore in the year-ago period, representing growth of around 36%.

The proposed 250-crore investment in an aluminium fluoride plant is expected to further strengthen Paradeep Phosphates’ manufacturing capabilities.

The strong quarterly numbers and expansion announcement have strengthened investor interest in the stock, with the market focusing on the company’s ability to sustain earnings momentum.

PC Jeweller Limited (down 0.98%)

PC Jeweller shares declined on Wednesday, extending the fall from the previous session, after the stock had gained earlier following the jewellery retailer’s announcement that it would seek shareholder approval for a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of up to 1,000 crore and the proposed reappointment of Balram Garg as managing director.

The proposals were outlined in a notice issued on Friday, after the company’s board approved the 1,000-crore QIP earlier this month.

The company last week said it had settled dues with another lender, taking the number of banks with resolved dues to five out of 14. The development is part of its broader debt-restructuring efforts as it works to settle its remaining obligations and improve its financial position.

PC Jeweller expects to clear its remaining bank debt during the current quarter.
