Mumbai, September 3: PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, Lumino Industries and IFCI were among the most actively traded stocks by volume on the NSE on Thursday, September 3. PC Jeweller gained 2.75%, while Lumino Industries extended its strong debut after listing at a premium to its IPO price. Vodafone Idea and IFCI, meanwhile, traded lower after recent gains.
PC Jeweller Limited (up 2.75%)
PC Jeweller shares bounced back on Thursday after extending their losses in the previous session, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call on Monday to refrain from non-essential gold purchases. The appeal, intended to conserve foreign exchange amid wider economic pressures, had weighed on the jewellery stock.
Vodafone Idea Limited (down 0.28%)
Vodafone Idea shares fell on Thursday, reversing some of the gains made in the previous session, after the telecom operator unveiled a revamped brand identity and named Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan as the face of its upcoming campaign. The new branding, which began rolling out across consumer touchpoints, digital channels and retail stores from September 1, marks part of Vi’s broader repositioning as it seeks to signal a fresh chapter for the company.
Lumino Industries Limited (up 43.96% over issue price)
Lumino Industries shares made a strong debut on the bourses on Thursday, September 3, listing at Rs 110 per share on the NSE, a 34.15% premium over the IPO price of Rs 82. On the BSE, the stock opened at Rs 109, translating into a 32.93% listing gain.
The Rs 700-crore initial public offering, which was open for subscription from August 27 to August 31, received an overwhelming response from investors. The issue was subscribed 118.12 times overall.
Following the sharp listing gain, investors are now likely to focus on the company’s fundamentals and valuation to assess whether the stock can sustain its post-listing momentum. The strong IPO subscription and sizeable premium indicate robust investor interest, but the stock’s performance after listing will depend on earnings growth, business prospects and valuations.
Lumino Industries had fixed the IPO price band at Rs 78-82 per share. After Thursday’s listing, the company’s market capitalisation stood at about Rs 3,320 crore. Lumino Industries is an integrated, product-focused engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company operating in India.
IFCI Limited (down 1.52%)
IFCI shares fell on Thursday as investors booked profits following the sharp rally in the previous session, which was driven by speculation that the National Stock Exchange could launch its long-awaited IPO later this month. IFCI is viewed as an indirect beneficiary of the potential listing through its controlling interest in Stock Holding Corporation of India, which owns a 4.4% stake in NSE. Expectations of value unlocking from the exchange’s IPO have fuelled renewed buying interest in IFCI shares.
