Mumbai, October 22: Shares of PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) and Yes Bank were among the stocks in focus on the NSE on Thursday, with movements driven by quarterly earnings, telecom-sector competition and company-specific developments. PC Jeweller reversed an early rally despite reporting a 58% year-on-year rise in September-quarter net profit, while Vodafone Idea extended its decline for a third consecutive session amid investor attention on Jio Platforms’ IPO. Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) rebounded after two sessions of losses, gaining 7.83%, while Yes Bank fell further as investors assessed the potential financial implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling on its additional tier-1 bonds.
PC Jeweller Limited (down 1.46%)
Shares of PC Jeweller Ltd initially surged as much as 8% on Thursday, October 22, after the jewellery retailer reported a 58% year-on-year increase in net profit for the September quarter. However, the stock reversed course and was trading 1.5% lower in later trade, indicating profit-booking after the initial rally.
The stock has been among the market’s strong performers this year, gaining more than 96% in 2026. The latest earnings announcement renewed investor interest in the counter, although the subsequent decline suggested that buying momentum had weakened during the session.
PC Jeweller’s net profit rose 58% year-on-year in the July-September quarter, reflecting improved performance during the period. Investors are tracking the company’s financial recovery, debt reduction and business growth as it works to strengthen its balance sheet and operations.
The company has also been in focus following the declaration ofits debt-freestatus. Its efforts to reduce liabilities and improve financial stability have been key factors influencing sentiment towards the stock.
The sharp initial rise followed by a reversal highlights the volatility in PC Jeweller shares. While the quarterly profit growth provided a positive trigger, investors may have used the early rally to book profits after the stock’s substantial gains this year.
Market participants will continue to assess the sustainability of the company’s earnings growth, its financial position and demand trends in the jewellery sector.
Vodafone Idea Limited (down 1.03%)
Shares of Vodafone Idea declined for a third consecutive trading session on Thursday as investors assessed the potential competitive implications of Jio Platforms’ initial public offering (IPO), whose retail portion got fully booked on the second day.
Reliance Industries’ digital and telecoms subsidiary launched its Rs 30,213-crore IPO on Wednesday, with the issue closing on October 23. The offering has a price band of Rs 1,065-1,119 per share and is India’s largest public issue to date, marking Reliance’s return to the IPO market after two decades.
Jio’s public listing comes amid intense competition in India’s telecom sector. Since commencing operations in 2016 with aggressively priced data and voice services, the company has rapidly expanded its subscriber base, challenging established operators, including Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel.
For Vodafone Idea, the growing focus on Jio’s IPO has brought renewed attention to the competitive dynamics of the telecom industry. Investors will continue to monitor the company’s subscriber trends, financial performance, funding requirements and ability to compete with better-capitalised rivals. Broader market volatility and stock-specific developments are also likely to influence sentiment towards the telecom operator.
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (up 7.83%)
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) surged on Thursday, snapping a two session decline.
The stock is up 3.3% over a week, down 2.9% over a month and down 30% this year.
Over a year it is down 38%. The firm provides wire line voice, data, and managed telecom services to enterprise customers in Maharashtra and Goa.
Yes Bank Limited (down 1.16%)
Shares of Yes Bank extended their decline on Thursday as investors continued to evaluate the financial implications of the Supreme Court’s decision last week to overturn the lender’s 2020 write-off of Rs 8,400 crore in additional tier-1 (AT1) bonds. The pressure persisted even after the bank reported a 65% year-on-year rise in net profit for the September quarter on Saturday.
Yes Bank said it would have posted a loss of Rs 5,217 crore for the quarter ended September had it recognised the impact of the Supreme Court ruling. The disclosure has raised concerns about the potential hit to the bank’s financial position, overshadowing its stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings as investors assess the accounting and legal consequences of the verdict.
