New Delhi: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd on Monday reported a 48.3 per cent year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 2026 at Rs 74.3 crore on account of higher advertising & promotional (A&P) spends and impact on advertising revenue.
The company had logged a net profit of Rs 143.7 crore in April-June a year ago, according to a regulatory filing from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL).
However, its total income was up 4.8 per cent to Rs 1,938.5 crore in the June quarter of FY27. The figure was at Rs 1,849.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
Zee Entertainment’s total expenses were at Rs 1,864.4 crore, up 12.8 per cent in the reporting quarter. They were at Rs 1,652.7 crore in the first quarter of FY26.
The expenses rose due to an “increase in programming expenses on account of FIFA 2026 and expanded content offering across platforms,” said ZEEL in its investor presentation. It continued to selectively invest towards growth initiatives such as KidZ, Bullet, Live, etc.
Moreover, it had higher A&P spends due to FIFA 2026 along with the launch of sports channels.
In the June quarter, ZEEL’s revenue from advertising was down 11.48 per cent to Rs 671.4 crore as against Rs 758.5 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
“Middle East crisis impacted advertising revenue,” said ZEEL. However, it was “partially offset” in the month of June with the acquisition of FIFA digital & broadcasting rights.
ZEEL has an 8-year media rights partnership with FIFA spanning from 2026 through 2034, where it holds the exclusive television and digital broadcasting rights in India and the subcontinent for 39 major FIFA events, including the recently-completed FIFA World Cup.
Its subscription revenue was up 15.8 per cent to Rs 1,136.9 crore in the June quarter of FY27. This was “driven by higher linear subscription pricing and growth in digital subscribers along with higher ARPU,” it said Revenue from “other sales and services” was up 17 per cent to Rs 99 crore in the June quarter.
This was led by “growth in studios business driven by other language movies (Tumbad Chi Manjula & Rakaasa) Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd on Monday settled at Rs 94.45 on the BSE, up 0.32 per cent from the previous close.
