Finance ministry says net FDI of $0.4 billion in FY 25 subdued, not worrisome

Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has said that net foreign direct investment (FDI) of $0.4 billion in FY 25 is subdued but not worrisome.
Gross FDI in India in FY 25 stood at $81 billion. Net FDI is the difference between foreign direct investments in India and foreign direct investments made by Indian companies in foreign countries plus capital repatriations by foreign companies in India.
Overseas direct investments by Indian companies on the rise
Overseas direct investments by Indian companies in FY25 stood at $12.5 billion. The Finance Ministry added that increased foreign expansion by Indian companies needs a closer look from the standpoint of policy making.
