Mumbai, October 7, 2025: The Indian stock market and all the included indices are expected to open on a mildly positive start today, on October 7. The mildly positive start is indicated by Gift Nifty, which is up by 0.31%, or 78 points, and is trading at 25,224.50, as of 9:00 AM.

Sensex and Nifty Closed Higher

Yesterday, on October 6, both Sensex and Nifty closed higher to extend their winning-streak. The Sensex closed 582.95 points (0.72%) higher at 81,790.12, while the Nifty 50 jumped 183.40 points (0.74%) to close at 25,077.65, crossing the 25,000 mark once again. Both the indices were supported by gains in IT and banking stocks. Furthermore, the midcap index closed 0.75 higher, while smallcap stocks showed weakness throughout the trading session.

FIIs Net Sellers While DIIs Net Buyers

Yesterday, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued their selling streak for the 10th consecutive session. They sold Indian equities worth ₹313.77 crore. On the other hand, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought Indian equities worth ₹5,036.39 crore, providing cushion to the fund flows.

Asian Markets Higher While Dow Jones Slips

Asian markets traded mostly higher. Taiwan jumped 1.5% and Japan extended gains after pro-stimulus political developments fueled investor confidence. In the US, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at record highs, lifted by optimism around artificial intelligence-related dealmaking, despite the federal government shutdown.

Dow Jones slipped 0.14% at 46,694.97, while S&P 500 increased by 0.36% at 6,740.28, and Nasdaq jumped 0.71% to 22,941.67. Meanwhile, US 10-year Treasury yields surged to 4.15%, while the 2-year yield eased to 3.58%. The Dollar Index remained steady.

Oil Prices Flat While Gold Hits Record High

Oil prices were majorly flat, and Brent Crude traded around $84 a barrel. Gold prices hit a new record high in early Asian trading, supported by economic uncertainty and increasing expectations of a potential US Fed rate cut.

Mildly positive Start Expected

As indicated by Gift Nifty, the stock market is expected to start on a mildly positive note. However, the indices may see some volatility in the afternoon session. It remains to be seen if Sensex and Nifty can sustain their winning streak today.
