Every one of the ten cities gained the same amount in each purity: ₹270 per 10 grams in 24K gold, ₹250 in 22K and ₹200 in 18K. Unlike Tuesday, when Chennai’s 18K gold gained ₹220, there is no spread between cities today. The gap between the cheapest and costliest cities is unchanged at Rs 150 in each purity.
These are bullion rates. Jewellery will cost more once making charges, wastage charges and 3% GST are added. GST alone comes to about ₹4,197 on a 10-gram purchase of 24K gold at today’s rate, and about ₹3,848 on 22K and ₹3,148 on 18K for the same weight. On 100 grams of 24K gold, GST alone comes to about ₹41,973.
With Dhanteras and Diwali only days away, buyers are weighing their festive purchases. At ₹1,39,910 per 10 grams, 50 grams of 24K gold costs ₹6,99,550 before making charges and GST, which is ₹11,750 less than on Friday. At the 22K rate of ₹1,28,250 per 10 grams, 50 grams costs ₹6,41,250.

Titan Company opened lower at ₹4,472.00, about 2 per cent below the previous close of ₹4,562.00, but the stock reversed early and has climbed steadily since the open. It is trading at ₹4,647.60, up ₹85.60 or 1.88 per cent, a recovery of nearly 4 per cent from its opening price, a sharp reversal for a stock that began the session in the red.
Kalyan Jewellers India opened flat at ₹508.20, the same as its previous close, and dipped briefly in the first few minutes before moving higher through the morning. It jumped further after 10 am and is at ₹514.40, up ₹6.20 or 1.22 per cent.
Thangamayil Jewellery opened at ₹4,550.00 against a previous close of ₹4,532.90, a gap-up of about 0.4 per cent. It climbed sharply in the first half hour of trade before easing, and it is at ₹4,565.50, up ₹32.60 or 0.72 per cent. It has given up much of its early gain.
PC Jeweller was the strongest gainer, rising ₹0.45 or 3.06 per cent to ₹15.14 from ₹14.69. At around ₹15, the stock is a low-priced counter, so a move of a few paise changes its percentage gain sharply. One paisa is worth about 0.07 per cent of its price at this level.
Gold is up Rs 270 per 10 grams for a second day, and all four jewellery counters have gained. All four beat the Nifty 50’s 0.48 per cent gain, with PC Jeweller and Titan well ahead of the index.
The rupee is also in focus for gold buyers. USD/INR futures for the November 26 contract were at ₹94.7950 at 10:11 am. A weak rupee raises the rupee cost of imported gold, and it can limit falls in domestic rates when global prices ease. Gold’s price direction in the coming sessions will depend on global prices and the rupee, which together set the domestic rate.
