New Delhi: Aurobindo Pharma on Tuesday said the Telangana GST appellate authority has upheld a demand for reversal of excess input tax credit claim totalling Rs 4.60 crore.
The order was passed by the Appellate Joint Commissioner (ST), Malkajgiri Division, Hyderabad, under the Central GST Act and Telangana GST Act for the 2020-21 financial year, the drugmaker said in a regulatory filing.
The appellate authority confirmed a demand regarding the reversal of an alleged excess input tax credit (ITC) of Rs 2,56,44,999, along with interest of Rs 1,78,19,409 and a penalty of Rs 25,64,500, bringing the total disputed amount to Rs 4,60,28,908, as per the filing.
The order upheld an earlier ruling dated February 28, 2025, which alleged an excess claim of ITC in GSTR 3B compared to GSTR 2A for FY 2020-21.
Aurobindo Pharma received the communication on September 28 and stated that it plans to appeal against the decision before the GST Appellate Tribunal.
The pharmaceutical firm added that the order will not have any material impact on its operations or financial performance.
