Hero MotoCorp to Invest Over Rs 3,200 Cr in Andhra Pradesh
Hero MotoCorp said it will invest more than Rs 3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh over the next three to five years, with the centre-piece being a Rs 750 crore second Global Parts Centre at its Tirupati facility. Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal said the expansion is expected to generate around 4,000 jobs in the state.
As part of the plan, the company will raise the Tirupati plant’s annual capacity to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units, up from about 0.6 million units currently, more than doubling the facility’s output over the investment horizon. The new parts hub will be Hero’s second after its existing centre in Neemrana, Rajasthan, and will handle both domestic and international spare parts operations while also expanding the company’s accessories and merchandising business.
The Tirupati facility currently manufactures Hero MotoCorp’s entire electric vehicle portfolio, underlining the plant’s growing strategic importance within the company’s manufacturing footprint as the two-wheeler maker scales up its EV ambitions. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the foundation-laying ceremony for the new parts centre, lending political weight to the investment announcement and signalling the state government’s push to position Andhra Pradesh as a growing automotive manufacturing hub.
Hero MotoCorp is the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers by volume, with a product portfolio spanning motorcycles, scooters and electric vehicles sold across India and international markets. The Andhra Pradesh investment adds to the company’s broader capacity expansion drive as it looks to strengthen its parts and accessories business alongside its core vehicle manufacturing operations.
