Indian Equity Markets End the Day in Green

Indian equity markets ended the day in green today, 14th May, 2025. Nifty 50 closed the day, up by 88.55 points. Sensex closed the day, up by 182.34 points. Top gainers today at Nifty 50 were Tata Steel, Shriram Finance and BEL. Top losers at Nifty 50 today were Asian Paint, Cipla and Kotak Bank.

BEL Gained Today After News That Its Anti-Drone System Was Used By Indian Forces

Tata Steel’s stock was the top gainer today after its March quarter net profit exceeded expectations. Shriram Finance jumped because credit rating agency Fitch has upgraded its long-term foreign currency and local currency credit rating to BB+ from BB, with stable outlook.

BEL’s stock price gained after the company revealed that its Drone Detection and Interdiction system was used by Indian defence forces in the recent conflict with Pakistan.

Asian Paints shares fell after Reliance decided to sell its entire 4.9% stake in the company. All the broader market indices ended the day in green. All the sectoral indices ended the day in green. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal index was the top gainer, up by 2.46%. Nifty Realty index gained 1.70%.

Market Breadth Was Positive

Market breadth was positive today. 2183 stocks gained. 694 stocks declined. 83 stocks remained unchanged in their prices. 61 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 13 stocks touched new 52-week low.
