Indian markets close the day on a negative note

Indian markets ended the day in red today, 30^th May, 2025. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 82.90 points or 0.33%. Sensex ended the day, down by 182.02 points or 0.22%. Top gainers at Nifty 50 today were Eternal, State Bank of India and HDFC Bank. Top losers at Nifty 50 today were Bajaj-Auto, Hindalco and HCL Tech.

Market sentiments today were dampened by the news that a Federal Appeals court has temporarily reinstated Trump tariffs. Before this, US Court of International trade had blocked Trump tariffs.

Among broad market indices, Nifty 100 index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.36%. Some small-cap and micro-cap stocks gained today. Nifty small-cap 250 index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 0.32%.

Nifty PSU bank index was the top gainer today

Among sectoral indices, Nifty PSU bank index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 2.88%. Nifty Midsmall financial services index also gained 1.56%. Top loser today was  Nifty IT index. It ended the day, down by 1.15%.

Market breadth was negative

Market breadth was negative today at NSE. 1299 stocks gained in the day. 1581 stocks declined. 75 stocks remained unchanged.  64 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 23 stocks touched new 52-week low.
