Indian Stock Markets End the Day in Red on Profit Booking

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 174.95 points or 0.70%. Sensex ended the day, down by 624.82 points or 0.76%. Top gainers at Nifty 50 today were Jio Financial Services, IndusInd Bank, and Trent. Top losers at Nifty 50 today were Ultratech Cement, JSW Steel and ITC. Profit booking took place across a range of stocks after the gains of the past two days.

Larger cap stocks saw some selling pressure

Among broad market indices, Nifty 100 index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.63%. Some larger cap stocks saw selling pressure today. Among sector indices, Nifty Auto index was the top loser today. It lost 0.70% during the day. Auto stocks saw some profit booking in the day along with financial and IT stocks. Nifty Realty index was the top gainer today; it gained 0.24%.

Market breadth was negative

Market breadth was negative today. 1412 stocks gained during the day. 1462 stocks declined. 81 stocks remained unchanged. 42 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 13 stocks touched new 52-week low.
