Mumbai, April 29: Several stocks of NSE Nifty 50 closed in positive territory on Wednesday, with consumer, energy, and auto names leading the charge as markets staged a strong recovery session. The broad-based rally came despite lingering uncertainty over the Iran conflict and crude oil prices sustaining above the $100 mark, with buyers returning across sectors after Tuesday’s cautious session. The following seven stocks are some of the best performers on Wednesday:
ITC
ITC was Wednesday’s standout performer, closing at ₹316.00 — up 3.79% from its previous close of ₹304.45. The stock opened at ₹305.10, matching the session low, before surging to a high of ₹317.50 as buyers stepped in aggressively. Volumes were substantial at over 3.12 crore shares worth ₹979 crore, reflecting broad-based institutional and retail participation in one of India’s most widely held consumer conglomerates. The gain signals a decisive rotation into FMCG names as investors sought defensive coverage amid the ongoing geopolitical backdrop.

Tech Mahindra
Tech Mahindra was the day’s second-biggest gainer, closing at ₹1,454.70 — up 3.31% from ₹1,408.10. The IT major opened at ₹1,414.00, dipped to a low of ₹1,405.20 before buyers pushed the stock to a session high of ₹1,464.00. The ₹58.80 intraday range on a mid-tier IT stock is noteworthy, suggesting that position-building was active rather than opportunistic. Volumes stood at 33.35 lakh shares worth ₹485 crore.

Reliance Industries
Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,430.00, gaining 2.96% from its previous close of ₹1,388.90. The stock opened at ₹1,392.00, held a low of ₹1,391.30, and rallied to a session high of ₹1,433.80. With over 3.05 crore shares changing hands worth a commanding ₹4,331 crore, Reliance was the session’s highest-value trade among the gainers — a reminder of its outsized influence on both the Sensex and the Nifty.

Coal India
Coal India added 2.93%, closing at ₹480.70 against a previous close of ₹467.00. The PSU miner opened at ₹469.85, touched a session low of ₹464.05 early in trade, before surging to a high of ₹485.70. With 1.81 crore shares traded worth ₹866 crore, Coal India attracted strong volumes, reflecting sustained interest in the PSU energy space as oil prices kept commodity names in focus.

Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki closed at ₹13,265, up 2.89% from its previous close of ₹12,892 — a gain of ₹373 per share in a single session. The stock opened at ₹13,090.00, which also marked the session low, and climbed steadily to a high of ₹13,548.00 through the day. At 7.55 lakh shares worth ₹1,012 crore, volumes were healthy for a high-value counter, with the auto sector’s 2.28% sectoral index gain providing a strong tailwind.

Bharti Airtel
Bharti Airtel closed at ₹1,885.80, rising 2.28% from ₹1,843.80. The telecom major opened at ₹1,848.00, held a low of ₹1,845.40, and pushed to a session high of ₹1,900.40 — breaching the ₹1,900 mark intraday before settling marginally below. Volumes were robust at 77.13 lakh shares worth ₹1,455 crore, one of the busiest sessions for the counter in recent weeks.

Tata Consumer Products
Tata Consumer Products gained 2.03%, closing at ₹1,171.00 against a previous close of ₹1,147.70. The stock opened at ₹1,147.70 matching the previous close exactly and advanced to a high of ₹1,171.20, with a low of ₹1,147.70. Volumes of 13.46 lakh shares worth ₹157 crore were moderate but directionally clean, with the stock closing near its session high.

Mahindra & Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra rounded out the top eight with a 1.97% gain, closing at ₹3,149.00 against a previous close of ₹3,088.10. The auto major opened at ₹3,100.00, touched a low of ₹3,092.00, and rallied to a session high of ₹3,192.00 — a ₹100 intraday range reflecting active buying in the SUV market leader. With 39.17 lakh shares worth ₹1,239 crore traded, M&M was one of the most actively tracked names on the index through the day.
