L&T and BEL Forge Strategic Partnership for India’s 5th-Generation Fighter Aircraft Programme

Mumbai, September 24, 2025: Larsen & Toubro Limited has announced that it has created a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The partnership will see both companies collaborate on the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme of the Indian Air Force.
Both the companies are expected to jointly respond to the Expression of Interest launched by the Aeronautical Development Agency in the coming weeks. The partnership is aimed at creating a strong foundation for India’s 5th-generation fighter aircraft. This will be done by combining L&T’s expertise in defence and aerospace platforms with BEL’s strength in defence electronics.
Legacy of Collaboration
Both companies have previously contributed significantly to India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme. L&T supplied aero-structure modules while BEL developed mission-critical avionics and electronic systems.
Significant Leap in Commitment
S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, said: “The collaboration with BEL marks a significant leap in our commitment to modernising India’s defence capabilities. Both organisations are leaders in their domains, and our combined efforts will play a crucial role in bolstering national security and advancing self-reliance in defence technologies.”

With L&T’s engineering and systems integration strength and BEL’s expertise in defence electronics, we are confident of delivering a world-class solution that will serve the Indian Air Force for decades.”
L&T Shares End 0.45% Higher While BEL Shares Slip
At the market close, L&T share price ended the day higher by 0.45%, or 16.60 points at ₹3,674.20. On the other hand, BEL share price fell by 2.16%, or 8.75 points and closed at ₹395.70.
