M&M leads Nifty gainers on Tuesday; UltraTech, Hindalco, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Life also advance

Mumbai, May 5: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) led the Nifty 50 gainers on Monday, May 5, rising 3.68% to close at ₹3,220.8, making it the top-performing index constituent for the session. UltraTech Cement, Hindalco Industries, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Life Insurance, Nestle India, and Bajaj Finance also featured among the day’s top seven gainers, advancing between 1.01% and 1.54% in a broadly positive session for large-cap equities.
M&M — up 3.68%
Mahindra & Mahindra was the standout performer on the Nifty 50 on Monday, surging 3.68% to close at ₹3,220.8 on the NSE. The stock opened at ₹3,114, touched an intraday high of ₹3,222, and held most of its gains through the session, with a low of ₹3,070.2. M&M traded 64.54 lakh shares worth approximately ₹2,032.16 crore during the day, reflecting strong institutional and retail participation. The previous close stood at ₹3,106.5.

UltraTech Cement — up 1.54%
UltraTech Cement was the second-biggest Nifty 50 gainer on Monday, advancing 1.54% to close at ₹11,939. The stock opened at ₹11,671, hit an intraday high of ₹11,987, and held firm above its previous close of ₹11,758 for most of the session. A total of 3.50 lakh shares worth approximately ₹415.15 crore changed hands during the day.

Hindalco Industries — up 1.37%
Hindalco Industries advanced 1.37% to close at ₹1,057 on Monday, rising from its previous close of ₹1,042.7. The metals major opened at ₹1,036.3 and touched an intraday high of ₹1,059, with a session low of ₹1,031.1. Volume was robust at 45.81 lakh shares, translating to a traded value of approximately ₹480.82 crore for the day.

Bajaj Finserv — up 1.16%
Bajaj Finserv rose 1.16% to close at ₹1,791 on Monday, gaining from its previous close of ₹1,770.4. The financial services conglomerate opened at ₹1,760, scaled an intraday high of ₹1,799, and saw a session low of ₹1,742.1. Trading volume stood at 12.70 lakh shares, with a total traded value of approximately ₹225.67 crore during the session.

HDFC Life Insurance — up 1.13%
HDFC Life Insurance gained 1.13% on Monday to close at ₹595, rising from its previous close of ₹588.35. The insurer opened at ₹587.05 and touched an intraday high of ₹601.95, with a session low of ₹586. HDFC Life saw active participation with 40.82 lakh shares trading hands, amounting to a total value of approximately ₹242.49 crore.

Nestle India — up 1.09%
Nestle India closed 1.09% higher at ₹1,473 on Monday, advancing from its previous close of ₹1,457.1. The FMCG heavyweight opened at ₹1,456 and touched an intraday high of ₹1,480.4, with a low of ₹1,447.6 during the session. A total of 24.91 lakh shares worth approximately ₹365.90 crore were traded during the day.

Bajaj Finance — up 1.01%
Bajaj Finance rounded out the top seven Nifty 50 gainers on Monday, rising 1.01% to close at ₹959.75 from its previous close of ₹950.2. The NBFC opened at ₹950.2 and hit an intraday high of ₹961.1, while the session low stood at ₹933.15. Bajaj Finance was among the most actively traded stocks on the day, with 72.90 lakh shares changing hands worth approximately ₹691.29 crore.
