New Delhi, May 25: Six of India’s top ten most valued companies witnessed a combined erosion of ₹78,166.08 crore in market capitalisation last week, with Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) taking the steepest hit amid overall bearish trends in equities.

During the week, the BSE Sensex slipped by 609.51 points or 0.74%, while the Nifty shed 166.65 points or 0.66%, reflecting subdued investor sentiment.

Reliance Industries and TCS Among Top Losers

Among the laggards, Reliance Industries saw the sharpest drop, with its market valuation declining by ₹40,800.4 crore to ₹19,30,339.56 crore.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also faced significant erosion, losing ₹17,710.54 crore to settle at a valuation of ₹12,71,395.95 crore.

Other major losers included:

  • Infosys, down ₹10,488.58 crore to ₹6,49,876.91 crore
  • Hindustan Unilever, down ₹5,462.8 crore to ₹5,53,974.88 crore
  • ICICI Bank, down ₹2,454.31 crore to ₹10,33,868.01 crore
  • State Bank of India, down ₹1,249.45 crore to ₹7,05,446.59 crore

Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance Among Gainers

On the flip side, Bharti Airtel led the gainers with a sharp ₹10,121.24 crore rise in valuation, reaching ₹10,44,682.72 crore.

Bajaj Finance saw its market cap increase by ₹4,548.87 crore to ₹5,74,207.54 crore, while ITC added ₹875.99 crore to reach ₹5,45,991.05 crore.

HDFC Bank posted a modest gain, with its valuation rising by ₹399.93 crore to ₹14,80,723.47 crore.

Reliance Retains Top Spot

Despite the steep decline, Reliance Industries remained India’s most valuable company, followed by:

  1. HDFC Bank
  2. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
  3. Bharti Airtel
  4. ICICI Bank
  5. State Bank of India
  6. Infosys
  7. Bajaj Finance
  8. Hindustan Unilever
  9. ITC

The performance of these market leaders continues to reflect broader investor trends and sentiments in the Indian equity landscape.
