Markets see a firm day in green; Max Healthcare shares gain more than 6%

It was a strong day of gains, today, for Indian equity markets. Nifty 50 ended the day, up by 183.40 points or 0.73%. Sensex ended the day, up by 582.95 points or 0.72%.

Max Healthcare, Shriram Finance, and TCS were the top three gainers at Nifty 50 today. Trent, Tata Steel and Adani Ports were the top three losers.

Shares of hospital chains gained after upward revision of CGHS rates

Stocks of many hospital chains gained today. This after the central government revised the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates after more than a decade. Hospitals will now be able to charge CGHS patients around 25-30% more in some key medical procedures. Nifty Healthcare index gained 1.29%. Yatharth Hospital shares closed the day, up by 4.58%. Max Healthcare was the top gainer at Nifty 50 today. It ended the day, up by 6.34%.

The biggest gainer among sectoral indices today was Nifty IT index. It gained 2.28%. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech were among top gainers at Nifty today. TCS announced that it will come out with its Srptember quarter result on 9^th October.

Market breadth was negative

However, market breadth was negative today. 1386 stocks gained at NSE today. 1729 stocks declined. This was because a number of microcap stocks saw selling pressure today. Among broad market indices, Nifty Microcap 250 index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.29%.  Market volatility increased today. Nifty India VIX index increased by 1.31%.
