Mumbai, April 16: Indian markets opened strong in the green on Thursday following broad-based buying in stocks across sectors. Hindalco, Adani Enterprises, JSW Steel, L&T, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance were top gainers among Nifty constituents at the time of writing, rising strongly in early trade as buyers returned to markets on positive global cues and receding geopolitical tensions.

Hindalco opened at ₹1,016.90 in early trade and climbed to ₹1,043 intraday high. It touched a low of ₹1,013 and was last traded at ₹1,038.85, up 2.71% against its previous closing price of ₹1,011.45.

Adani Enterprises opened at ₹2,170 and hit a high of ₹2,186.50 in morning trade. At the time of writing, the stock traded at ₹2,183.10 after touching a low of ₹2,161.10. It gained 1.80% against its previous close of ₹2,144.40 as buyers piled into India’s largest conglomerate.

JSW Steel opened at ₹1,221.20 and rose to ₹1,242.90 during early trading hours. The stock traded at ₹1,240.10 after touching an intraday low of ₹1,221.20. It gained 1.76% against its previous close of ₹1,218.60.

L&T opened at ₹4,128 and rose to ₹4,142 during morning trade. It touched an intraday low of ₹4,100 and was last traded at ₹4,142, up 1.61% against its previous close of ₹4,076.30.

Tata Steel traded between ₹209.01 and ₹212.92 after opening at ₹209.75. It was last traded at ₹212.08, up 1.61% against its previous close of ₹208.72.

Bajaj Finance opened at ₹919 and rose to ₹931.25 during early trade. It touched a low of ₹917.70 and was last traded at ₹926.55 — up 1.47% from its previous closing price of ₹913.15.

Laggards

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products dropped to a low of ₹1,083.20 and was last traded at ₹1,084.60 — down 0.88% from its previous close of ₹1,094.20.

Bajaj Auto fell to ₹9,794 at its morning low and was last traded at ₹9,800, down 0.66% from its previous close of ₹9,865.

HCL Tech came down to ₹1,438.80 at its intraday low and traded at ₹1,441.70, down 0.66% from ₹1,451.30.

Bharti Airtel dropped to ₹1,843.50 at its intraday low and was last traded at ₹1,844.90, down 0.58% from its previous close of ₹1,855.70. Coal India fell to ₹433.40, hitting an intraday low of ₹431.50 against its previous closing price of ₹435.80. The PSU miner was down 0.55%.

The benchmark BSE Sensex traded around 78,620 during morning trade, up more than 509 points or 0.65%. NSE Nifty climbed to 24,375, rising 144 points or 0.59%. Positive sentiment drove buying interest in metal, financial and infrastructure stocks while select consumer and energy counters pulled the indices mildly lower.
