Mumbai, July 17Trading activity remained elevated on the NSE through Friday, July 17, 2026, with investors actively churning positions across financial, power, infrastructure and small-cap stocks. By the 4:00 PM IST closing bell, PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea and Suzlon Energy topped the list of the most active equities by trading volume, reflecting strong participation from both retail and institutional investors.

The day’s most traded stocks painted a mixed picture. While a few counters attracted fresh buying, others witnessed sharp profit booking, underlining the stock-specific nature of the session as investors tracked earnings and company-specific developments.

Market Highlights

  • PC Jeweller once again topped the volume chart, with nearly 49 crore shares changing hands, even as the stock declined more than 6%
  • Vodafone Idea remained one of the busiest counters on the exchange, continuing to attract heavy trading interest.
  • Suzlon Energy featured among the top three most active stocks, indicating sustained investor participation despite ending almost flat.
  • Kalyani Investment and Campus Activewear also witnessed healthy buying, while Paisalo Digital and GTL Infrastructure closed lower amid active trading.
  • The mix of gainers and losers among the volume leaders suggests investors were actively reshuffling portfolios rather than following a single market trend.

Why Most Active Equities Matter

Stocks that consistently appear among the most active equities often indicate where market attention is concentrated. Higher trading volumes can be driven by earnings announcements, corporate updates, block deals or changes in investor sentiment. While heavy volumes do not automatically signal a buying opportunity, they can provide valuable clues about where liquidity and market interest are building.

Conclusion

At the 4:00 PM IST close on Friday PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea and Suzlon Energy dominated the list of the NSE’s most active equities by trading volume. Jio Financial Services, Kalyani Investment and Campus Activewear also attracted strong buying interest, while stocks such as PC Jeweller and Paisalo Digital remained under selling pressure. As the earnings season gathers momentum, trading volumes are likely to remain elevated, offering investors important signals about shifting market sentiment and stock-specific opportunities.
